Light in the Piazza

Has anyone sat up in the balcony for light in the piazza, are the seats good, or should I pay the extra $30 to sit up front? And does anyone think matthew morrison has a chance of coming back, or is the show just as good with the new guy, lazar?

Thanks!

re: Light in the Piazza

If you're a student, join the Lincoln Center Theater website so you can get the $20 seats. (www.lct.org I believe)

I sat in the orchestra row J I believe (amazing seats) for only 20 bucks! You can't lose...

But as far as the loge seats for Piazza go, I cant help you there...sorry re: Light in the Piazza

And, no, Matt Morrison isn't returning anytime soon (if at all). He's currently in A Naked Girl on the Appian Way which just opened on Bway a couple weeks ago.

re: Light in the Piazza

The balcony or "LOGE" seats for Piazza are not good at all. I sat there the first time I saw Piazza and while you can hear everything, you are so far up that you can't see anyone. They're so far away.

re: Light in the Piazza

I sat in the very last row of the lodge to the right side for Piazza and the seats were fine. Their a little high but not far from the stage at all. I saw Rivials from the last row of the Orch (to the right side) and personaly I think the Lodge seats were just as good. I also saw Brian Stokes Mitchell at LCT frist row lodge and the seats were great.

re: Light in the Piazza

I have to disagree. When I saw Piazza I had seats all the way on the left of lincoln center and i couldnt see any of the stage in the back so i moved upstairs and it was so much better. You can see everything.

re: Light in the Piazza

so from what ive read, some people like think the loge is fine, others think it stinks. the student tix is not available right now. tickets for this show are the most on broadway, either 95 or 65....

re: Light in the Piazza

Tickets for this show are cheaper than most broadway shows if you are going by 95...

Student tix is always available...I got 4th row center student ticket a few days before I went to see the show...

re: Light in the Piazza

They're not doing online student tickets anymore, but I believe they sell $30 student tickets before every performance. I've sat EVERYWHERE for this show, and while the loge is far, it's just as great a place to see the show as any. I don't think there's a seating chart online, but I do know that you should beware of any right orch seats that end in 08-12, because then you'll be in slightly obstructed view land.

Have fun!

re: Light in the Piazza

When I saw the show, I was in the loge in the section 400 in the middle of it. The seats were perfect. I could see and hear everything (okay, I missed a lot of one of the paintings in the Ufrizi gallery,) other than that, they were perfect. Show was great, too.

re: Light in the Piazza

I think they stopped accepting registration of new studentix members, however ones who have prevuiously joined already can still use it...mayhaps...

re: Light in the Piazza

they have two student ticket programs. one allows you to purchase tickets in advance, which seems to have a waiting list for membership. and one which allows you to purchase a ticket the day of the show, shortly before the show begins but they do not specifically hold tickets for this purpose, it is simply based on availability so there may not be any student tickets for them to sell before the show if its a sold out performance.

re: Light in the Piazza

essentially, on the day i want to go, it would be the LAST row, but in the center..or should i splurge the extra amount to sit in the 6th row....

re: Light in the Piazza

I personally prefer center over the extreme sides, and the left side over the right side because of a hanging statue that blocks some of the staging. its a fairly small theatre so the last row isnt that bad. the orchestra only goes to row P and the loge is only six rows deep.

re: Light in the Piazza

loge seats really allow you to appreciate the STAGING of the show ... the positions of the actors on the stage, the lines of the sets as they slide on and off, the shafts of light that are used to great effect.

re: Light in the Piazza

Wow...what do you guys constitute as far away seats? LCT is one of the smallest houses(area wise, not seating) on Broadway. I've sat everywhere in the theatre and the only complaints I have is from sitting on the sides, unless it's for a dance show like Contact. For Piazza, you'll want to sit somewhere in the center...but you'll never be more than 50 ft from the stage in that theatre.

re: Light in the Piazza

I would reccommend using the discount code... if the code applies to you. If not, then I honestly would prefer the left hand side in the front... but it would honestly depend on if it was near the aisle or not. Too far away from the aisle, your view would be really obstructed from seeing the show. If that is the case, then I would also reccommend being center last row. I've heard that you can still see from the loge, but I've never experienced it myself. I honestly like seeing a show up close...

Also, about Matty Fresh, he has said that he doesn't really want to go back to Piazza because he feels its best to move ahead instead of looking back... so I don't expect him to return to Piazza, even after Appian Way ends.
