re: Light in the Piazza video

Well, I don't think she's quite in the league Tonya was in last year but still she is the one to beat this year. I'm rooting for her. re: Light in the Piazza video I have yet to see Christina in Sweet Charity but somehow I doubt that she'll be able to change my mind.

Well I'm certanly going to see it again. SOON. I'll be sure to pay extra close attention to her.

How do you think Matt Morrison will be entered come Tony time? As leading actor or supporting?

re: Light in the Piazza video

If I want anyone to be nominated this year then it's Matt! I LOVED his portrayal, he was so 'authentic'. I really hope that he doesn't get ignored, I guess he'd be up for supporting.

re: Light in the Piazza video

I'm assuming he'll be Featured, but we'll see. Given the Spamalot and DRS folks (and Beach and Jackson), it's probably much more likely he won't be overlooked if he's Featured, I think. What do you think of his chances in the Featured category?

re: Light in the Piazza video

I was thinking that would be the catagory he would be entered in, even though he was technically the leading male in this show.

re: Light in the Piazza video

Actually I think Matt is great, but he doesn't seem very Italian to me. I think the other actor's who've played Fabrizio are a little more authentic for me...and his high notes could be a little better. This is me being very critical though.

re: Light in the Piazza video

Jazzy, his high notes were PERFECT tonight. I was shocked when he hit them, I didn't know he had that in him.

And Margo, if he's entered in leading he'd lose to Norbert. If he's entered in Featured, than he has a good chance of losing to one of the SPELLING BEE guys (or Kudisch if they decide it's time for him to FINALLY win a Tony)

re: Light in the Piazza video

It wasn't that he hit them for me. He did. But it was how they were hit. They were just that, hit and sometimes not in tune. But I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. maybe the longer he does it the stronger it gets...well I would hope so.

re: Light in the Piazza video

Well, half of my family is Italian, I honestly thought Matt would have passed as one of my cousins. All the gestures, accent etc was SPOT ON! I was very impressed.

As I said, I would LOVE for him to win the Tony for featured, however I fear, he doesn't really stand a chance, especially not with possible nominations from Spamalot's Borle or DRS's Jbara.

re: Light in the Piazza video

Oh my God Victoria is unbelievable in this role. I loved her at the 4th preview, but a few nights ago, it was on the level of legendary. Something I hope to read about in history books.

re: Light in the Piazza video

Yeah Vikki is wonderful. I've known that since how to succeed.

I was comparing Matt to the other 2 actors who've done the role. I think they're more authentic than Matthew. Personally I'd rather have the featured Tony go to Matthew rather than Jbara. His fake accent kind of annoyed me. I thought he was just ok. I think role difficulty should be considered when the awards are given. I think matt does a better job with a harder role.

re: Light in the Piazza video

I think he'll be considered featured. They might try to push Clark as the only lead. *shrug*

Most people ive seen put a Spelling Bee guy as the winner, since I havent seen the show yet, I dont want to comment on that but I do think this role and his performance are more impressive than the featured casts of Spamalot and La Cage (well the les cagelles deserve an award).

re: Light in the Piazza video

I thought all the 'Italians' in Piazza were very authentic. Matt acted and looked EXACTLY like the typical Italian young man, very big gestures, very 'drama like', that's us. re: Light in the Piazza video

I totally agree with you on your comments on Jbara, Jazzysuite. However, there is some strong competition in the featured category this year and they might want to give it a more 'comical' performance. Borle is doing an excellent job, so is Kudisch. And as Matt said, there are still the Spelling Bee boys.

re: Light in the Piazza video

They def should have a best ensemble award. Why not, the Drama League has one.

Maybe Matts Accent has gotten stronger too. It kinda floated in and out before. Well I'll have to see on Sunday. Yay for actor growth if it's true.

And actually typically in awards ceremonies, it's harder to get an award or nomination for a comedic performance. Drama's easier to judge for some odd reason. I think it looks more like "acting". at least that's the pre-conception. there are a hell of a lot of comedic performances this year though.

re: Light in the Piazza video

O'Hara was the star of this show to me. I was thinking she'd make a fabulous Guenivere when it comes time to cast CAMELOT.

Agreed Matt, she was amazing. I already loved her in Dracula.
