I tried to search but couldn't find anything on Light in the Piazza, currently in Cincinnati. I'm going to the show tonight and was wondering if anyone has gone to it earlier this week or last? I can't seem to find reviews...just wondering what to expect! Thanks!

I saw it tuesday evening and I loved it as much as when I saw it on broadway. The chemestry between the actors playing Fabizio and Clara were outstanding as were their voices. Christine Andreas in my opion is just as good as Victoria Clark.
Enjoy did u see it on broadway?
I didn't see it on Broadway, this is my first time! Thanks for the reply :)

If you still need a review, I'm going on Saturday. So I'll post a review then if it's still needed.

They both look gorgeous.
Wow, that's a pretty cast. I really want to go, but I'm assuming it's too late now. I need to learn how to not procrastinate.
so clara's not blonde? i know thats not important but i dunno... a personal thing.

I saw it tonight...and yes the cast is beautiful! And the acting and singing are superb....but i have to say, i didn't care for the story at all. The theatre was empty like I've never seen it before in the 5 yrs ive been going to this one....hopefully the tour does better elsewhere, because it is a great cast!

Hello. I saw it this past Tuesday. I had only previously seen the telecast on PBS, which I loved - Victoria Clark's performance and her chemistry with Katie Clarke were breath-taking. While I thought all the performances in the touring production were fine, I sensed a certain depth missing from the relationships on stage. All the performers had their merits. Christine Andreas had an interesting singing voice, and you could tell that she was a competent actor. But I felt she missed a lot of the warmth and humor of the character. On the other hand, she handled all of the heavier dramatic moments with tasteful restraint and dignity. Elena Shaddow has a lovely voice, but it sounded like she was conserving it for some reason. Her acting was appropriate and effective, if somewhat generic. She didn't try to put her own stamp on the role. I still think that Katie Clarke is my favorite, not because she has the best singing voice (clearly Kelli O'Hara and Elena Shaddow blow her out of the water in this area), but her presence and her vibrant take on the character managed to steal my heart. I know there are a lot of David Burnham fans on this board, but I really didn't care for his take on the role. I found him kind of spastic and distracting. As a singer, you could tell that he was doing everything correctly, but the voice was too thin and limited to fully capture the power of his songs. I really wanted to like him, but I found him the most disappointing. The rest of the cast was just fine, particularly the actors playing Giusseppe and Franca. Overall, it was nice to see TLITP live on stage. The music is so enchanting, and I could really appreciate how fluid and lovely the staging was. I hope I have the chance to see more of Bartlett Sher's work in the future. I really love what he did with this piece.

Maybe the houses would be fuller if the ticketing were handled more professionally (and fairly) in Cinny and the other cities.
The good seats are held back and even when you go online the day of performance to get newly released good seats that haven't sold, all that comes up as available are the same old seats in the back.
I've dealt with box offices for decades both as a customer and as a producer, manager, or artist... and I for one am sick and tired of their tricks, hold-backs, and games (particularly when there are multiple sources of ticketing - i.e. subscription sponsors, ticketing agents (such as Telecharge, Ticketmaster, etc), unofficial ticket brokers, house seats, premium tickets, and separate sale by the venue box office itself from its alotment.
This is NOT the fault of the box office personnel who are victimized by TPTB in the way tickets are allocated. So don't blame the guy or gal behind the window...they are most frequently as frustrated as the customers are.
So many times I have attended something with what are supposed to be the best available tickets only to find dozens of rows ahead of me totally vacant.
That's playing games...and it is a pisser.

I saw it on Saturday and it was every bit as beautiful as I saw it on PBS. My long-standing fandom of Christine Andreas was fufilled as she was BRILLIANT on stage, perfect for Margaret.
I stagedoored (mom and I were the only ones to do so). I met Elena Shaddow and David Burnham (who came out together, awww...!). They were both very sweet. Christine Andreas was amazingly gracious as well.
If you did not get to see Piazza on Broadway, I think the tour is just as wonderful.

No they did not sell anything, I was very suprised. I thought for sure they would of had a program for sale with new pictures of the touring cast. When I saw it on broadway the programs were not on sale yet, that summer I was in NYC with a friend and I made him go with me to Lincoln Center to get one before we went to see Hairspray, he was not happy, but I got my program.
I'm guessing they will be making at least window cards and programs. Maybe even shirts, though hopefully something better than the god awful ones made for Broadway.
When I saw Contact on tour they had tour programs and shirts. I know Lincoln Center isn't producing Piazza on the road and they probably didn't produce Contact on the road either, but the fact that they had merchandise for a small show like Contact is giving me hope they will do the same for Piazza. Looks like it is going to take a couple stops to get the merchandise out there though. I'm hoping by the time I see it in January they will have the goods. :) I'm praying for a beautiful window card.

It was fun in Miami that Sunday's Sun Sentinel had two ads for upcoming shows in the area - one showing David Burnham as the lead in "Piazza", the other showing David Burnham as the lead in "All Shook Up" (for which he posed for the ad campaign but isn't in the cast). That boy sure gets around.
Glad you got to meet him at the stagedoor. He and Elena are a lovely couple as Clara and Fabrizio.
