Seeing the Color Purple ranks as one of the top three theatrical experiences of my life. I was lucky enough to sit on the front row and meet the cast after the show and have a little backstage tour. Oh what a wonderful day that was. I can't take the movie so I was excited when I found out they were turning it into a musical. It didn't dissapoint at all.
I said, Fine by Me!

I love this show so much, it is my 2nd favorite show I have ever seen! Saw understudies for Celie and Shug and they were superb. The cast all around is awesome, and they all have such great voices. The songs are so fun, and uplifting, and the story is so beautiful.
To me this is a near perfect musical, and I would LOVE to see this again in the future!

I love the cast recording SO MUCH. It hasn't left my CD player in my car, except for the quick listen of Dreamgirls, and I turn into one of those people who just sings as LOUD as I want. I don't care WHO'S looking.
I'm excited for a friend going into the NY cast early next year AND another friend who will be in charge of the hair and make-up for the national tour.

WBAF, I'm not sure if that's the most attractive thread title to show appreciation for this show. Hah.
Still, I gotta show my love for the show, too. :)

Well, 'like a blade of corn' doesn't hop to mind when I think of a lyric that appreciates this show. It works, but it's just funny to me. Damn.

Posted: 1/8/07 at 5:15pmI had a terrific seat, 9th row center orchestra, for this show which I found to be superb. It was moving, wonderfully acted and sung, and inventively staged. Jeannette Bayardell as Celie and Felicia P. Fields as Sofia were standouts. After reading lukewarm comments about the show on this Board I was very pleasantly surprised. It was a memorable afternoon at the theatre in a very attentive and appreciative audience.

Posted: 1/8/07 at 7:53pmI LOVE this show! I've seen it three times. Twice from the same seat when I did rush. It's such a moving experience. How did it not win the Tony for Best Score or Lighting? It's an amazing show!

I just landed tix to THE COLOR PURPLE for this coming Tuesday night. It will be my first time seeing it since LaChanze left, and it will also be one of Felicia P. Fields' final performances. I hope Elisabeth Withers-Mendes is in that night. She was out last time I saw it and her understudy was disappointing. Anyway, I'll report back and let you all know how it was.
