Lin-Manuel Miranda vs Steph Curry

As a sports fan and Broadway fan, enjoyed your blog. I will note the Steph Curry before this year was already league MVP and World Champion. I think Lin would have to to win all awards come Tony night for his show. to equal Steph's accomplishments. As for this year, Steph shattered his own record for 3 point shots made and his team won the most games in a season ever. Unfortunately, in the sports world all that means nothing if they don't win the title again this year.

True: Steph Curry set a record for three-point shots this year...but night after night Lin promises he "...won't throw away my shot..."

In a one-on-one game, I'd bet on Curry to throw away his shot. Hamilton would thus win. But in a one-on-one between Hamilton and Burr, I'd bet on Burr every time.

Yay for another fellow sport and theatre enthusiast! Although I love both Steph and Lin, not sure the comparison has any meaning. (BTW Lin already won Tony, Grammy, Emmy, (and Pulitzer) he only needs to win an Oscar for the rare EGOT status, so for the recognition comparison, I think Lin has a leg up.)

I think as great two-time back to back MVP (and the first unanimous votes ever), Steph still suffers east coast bias. Unlike Hamilton, you can watch the Warriors games on TV, but since half of their games are played on West Coast, most NBA fans are not watching (unless it's highlight the next day).

OTOH, although Hamilton is a huge success and even people who don't pay attention to Broadway have heard about it and Lin's name. Still, it's a much smaller pool of population compared to NBA industry. Still, in a long run, I think Lin's crafts will be appreciated throughout the nation for a long time (just like Sondheim) as Steph won't/can't be playing the basketball forever, just like Michael Jordan couldn't.

In the 24 hour ESPN world we live in, Steph still gets plenty of attention even though he plays on the West Coast. Also, the finals are always played in prime time so he will be seen by millions.

Good point but if the Warriors win the title again this year, will Steph take the lead over Lin - lol.

Thanks for the feedback! I think the 73 win season and crazy increase in statistics right after an MVP season from Curry is a decent comparison to Miranda creating "Hamilton" right after winning a Tony for "In The Heights". It will be interesting to see if Miranda keeps growing in the public eye and if he does more in the future with movies (Moana), TV, and other mediums.

I'm just curious about how many people reading this board were asking themselves what show Steph Curry is starring in.

Welp my thesis goes down pretty hard if the Warriors lose tonight. Anyone still think they have a chance at a comeback?

Don't see them winning 3 in a row. Think they will hold on tonight and then lose Game 6. I think Curry is showing effects of all the injuries this post season.
