How can someone say she does not connect with her audience. She is very good at ad libbing in her element. (and if they are all staged--then she is a good actress)
I have never felt her feeling detatched. Remember she is going through an amazingly tough time right now in her life. (What with FW and her splitting)
Bit her VIENNA and LET HIM FLY and GOLD and BELLS OF ST PAUL are my four favorite songs.

I LOVE Linda Eder. She is one of the most vocally talented singers of our lifetime.....what an incredible and powerful instrument. Not to mention that she is beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. Her rendition of "Don't Rain On My Parade" made me really enjoy that song. Prior to hearing her rendition, I never cared too much for that song. And her "Some People" while different, is still a very good rendition, that I enjoy very much. But "Gold" really moves me, and nothing beats Ms. Eder's rendition of "A New Life". That was one of the very few times that I got emotional and connected with a character and actually identified with a character while watching them onstage. But then again, I love Coleen Sexton too....we need to start a thread about her.....
Cheers,
The Balladeer

Posted: 8/6/04 at 2:45pmA real bitch??????? From my experiences with Linda, I can't believe that. You said "You have heard..." You've never met her then. I've seen Linda stop and speak to anyone who approached her (at Jekyll & Hyde) as she made her way into the theater (sans makeup, in a hurry, etc.) and again to everyone waiting at the stage door after the show. She never refused to pose for pictures, signed and was extremely nice regardless of the weather conditions. If I happened to be on the inside of the stage door entrance, we'd embrace and I might get a kiss on the cheek. I've never seen her or Frank turn away from anyone, at a theater or at a private function. She's been going through a tough time since the latter part of 2003. Cut her some slack.

And if she ever was a b*tch, she's probably just tired. She doesn't have to talk to every fan that crosses her path. Ditto, cut her slack, everyone's got the right to b*tch at some point.

Posted: 8/6/04 at 5:53pmI have met Linda and it was like talking to an old friend. She was nothing but nice and though she was in a hurry and tired, she stopped to sign some stuff for me and talk. I really don't understand all of the talk about her not being connected to the audience. Everytime I have seen her, it was refreshing how personal she was, in regards to performing. You can always experience her great personality and sense of humor. She performs for the people, not for acting awards.
