I am re-listening to the cast recording, and I remember seeing the show when it first opened, and when she opened her mouth to sing Someone Like You, I was completely blown away, cause I had never heard of her before. Anybody else had the same thing happen?

As I posted before - when is the movie gonnaq be on TV again - now I actually WANT to see it...
Was Linda in the filmed musicla version?
there's a movie? or is it the one with DAvid hasselhoff?
Coleen Sexton plays Lucy on the DVD. She's no Linda Eder but you might end up being plesently surprised. She DOES NOT belong in the chorus of the CHICAGO tour. Girl needs to get herself back in a leading role. Updated On: 2/13/05 at 04:15 PM
hey, BSO, I posted something in your blog...but if you want the dvd, let me know and I can get it to you asap. ---Tiffany

Coleen is freaking awesome in Jekyll and Hyde, but she was even more dazzling in Chicago! You are right though. She so should not have been in the chorus...They should have got rid of Bianca and made Col's Roxie! She's an amazing dancer too! I got to meet her before the show and she was so sweet and took her time signing her headshot and talking to me and my family..I was stupified, Icouldn't think of anything to say. Anywho, she's awesome!

Coleen Sexton needs a show that stars her, and really shows what she can do! She has an AMAZING voice! The DVD is worth buying because of her, just in my opinion. DH is HORRIBLE in it though!
I TOTALLY agree with you, CatsNYrevival, she NOT need to be in the chorus of CHICAGO!

I loooooove this show. One of my first favorites. And yes, Linda Eder shocked the pants of me, although I never saw her.
I have seen the DVD, and although Hasselhoff's performance is quite painful, Colleen Sexton is a power house. Plus, she is drop dead gorgeous. I love her. I wish she would come back to Broadway as well.
Hey there! Coleen is awesome. She did audition for Wicked, but they gave it to the understudy. She just left the US Tour of Chicago and is probably back in NY auditioning. This is her unofficial website...It's awesome though. That pic is of me and her when I met her in Atlanta back in October when she was doing Chicago! A-Maze-Zing!

I'm totally in love with Linda Eder! Not only is her voice amazing, she's hot as hell! That's a killer combo, and her Bring On The Men has me lining up at her door!
I went to an early preview. Linda Eder was acting, but the voice was Emily Skinner. Later, I found out that she did that several times, in lieu of going on for Linda. It had something to do with the smoke machines.
Hey, everybody knows that I worship Emily. It was the only thing that kept me from leaving.
I saw it about two weeks before it opened. She was fabulous, although I think Coleen's performance in the video is much better. Maybe not vocally, but acting-wise.

Emily didn't do that several times... she did it once. It was previews and she hadn't had an understudy rehearsal and didn't want to wander around in the fog not knowing what she was doing.
You lucked out... it was definitely only that one time.
Speaking of losing voices... mine was gone today and it was my first rehearsal. SUCKS. I feel ya pain, Linda!!!
PS Albin, my little pinky is more expressive and can interpret a song better than Linda Eder. Not hard to come by.
Daisy, my dear,
My heart almost stopped when I heard that glorious voice coming out of the wrong body. It was probably the only reason I enjoyed the show so much. Did she actually ever get to go on for Linda?
You know, as much as I love Coleen, I still prefer Linda's "Someone Like You" better. On all the other songs, Coleen takes the cake and the icing too, but not that one. That one was made for Linda. She blows me away.

I remember seeing Linda Eder on Starsearch, but I didn't make the connection the first time I saw her in the show in Houston. Her acting was a bit weak (not BAD, just weak), but when she sang...GOOD GOD...it was very clear I was seeing something special. It's just her voice, but the way she performs is really amazing. It cannot be fully appreciated on CD or video. It has to be experienced live. It was my first experience with a showstopping performance.

I saw Linda Eder, Christianne Noll and the rest of the original cast in J&H three times (when rush seats were easy to get!). The show had its weakenesses story-wise, but nothing compares to sitting in the front row and hearing Eder and Noll sing In His Eyes with such absolute POWER. All of Eder's songs were just mindblowing.
I thought the filmed version was terrible compared to the original cast. Kudos to the female leads, but Hasselhoff...ugh! Noll and Eder were simply the best.
No one beats Eder vocally. The show was absolutely awful, but I saw it twice just to see Eder.
I found Colleen to be extremely nasal and pip-squeaky...she definately does not have the Eder belt. She sounds more like Frances Ruffelle...
As for Eder, I first heard her back in 1991, when she did the first recording of J&H, and was blown away. I have been a fan of hers ever since.

I agree Justice. Colleen sings very nasally, it got on my nerves the whole time I watched the DVD. I think she's beautiful and she's a good actress, but she's not a singer.
Linda Eder on the other hand could sing the phone book and I'd be mesmorized.

About a month after J&H opened, word had got around about this gal with "the voice". By then people recognized her on sight. I remember sitting in the front rows and a buzz of whispers went out when she made her entrance. (Those who were there will back me on this.)
I was there to see my friend Rob play the role of Jekyll. When this gal opened her mouth and sang, the audience melted. When Linda teamed up with Christiane Noll for "In His Eyes", it shook the rafters and the crowd cheered. It happened over and over. They came to hear Linda sing.
I joked about this with my friend in his dressing room telling him she was a tough act to follow and he agreed! How fortunate that this show launched her concert career. It was a time I'm sure many will remember, especially Linda & the rest of that amazing cast, many who went on to other things as a result of Jekkyl & Hyde.
I just want to throw in (not to be condescending or anything...) that Linda had released three solo albums and two concept albums (SP & J&H) before her Broadway debut.
