One project Perry has committed to is a Broadway version of the 1996 Nicole Kidman movie To Die For. "I'm really excited about it," she says. "I'm going to start on it as soon as the tour ends. It's right up my alley. It's going to Broadway and the team is being put together now. It's going to be another adventure for my music journey."
That's, as the kids say, what she said
Why turn yet another bad movie into a musical?
It's hardly a bad movie, it's an incredibly smart film featuring the role that established Nicole Kidman as one of the best actresses of her generation (1 Oscar win and 2 other nominations later, turns out it was true) by quite a gifted filmmaker.
I remember Jane Krakowski did a reading or a Workshop for a musical based on the real life story not too long ago, I wonder if she's still attached in any way. She'd be ideal in the Kidman role, I just hope this is the same project Perry is referring to.
I am not argueing what the film did for Kidman. Well, taste in movies is subjective. So let me just say that I'm tired of movies being turned into Broadway musicals.
I also think that Legally Blonde was a terrible movie, yet, it also established Reese Whitherspoon as one of the best/most popular actresses of her generation too, and she also won an Oscar and I honestly don't think she's that good.
I love Perry! She is such a great songwriter. I have been a fan ever since her hit with 4 Non Blondes.
