Lion King Balcony

Posted: 4/1/04 at 2:14pmI really want to see "The Lion King" on my next NY trip, however I can probably only afford tickets in the mid-mezz or balcony. How are the sightlines in the balcony? Should I get those seats, or wait to see the show when I can get orchestra seats?

I had balcony seats behind the pipe and I was really squished, but that is normal for most balconies. The pipe did not block anything. I could see fine, though actually I wish the pipe could have blocked my view and the sound.

Posted: 4/1/04 at 7:29pmSaw the show right before it opened sitting in the cheap seats. Saw the show fine no problem. When the theater opened many moons ago, theaters of this type were common & the sight lines & acoustics were great & cannot be equaled today. Sitting upstairs, you get a better look at the georgeous ceiling & can see the restored theater in all its beauty. For all the flak Disney takes, they deserve kudos for rescuing a true architectural gem from oblivion. I was in it years before the restoration & thought it was a lost cause. Boy was I wrong
