Anyone else see this article about the upcoming Andrew Lippa concert featuring songs from ASPHALT BEACH? I saw the show at Northwestern U. and it was killer--wish I could make it to NYC for this! If anyone is planning on going, could you let me know?

Also, Lippa's bio mentioned a recording of THE LITTLE PRINCESS--has one been made and I just missed it or what? I've heard 'Live Out Loud' and adore it, but would love to hear the rest of the score.

I wish I could go. I love Andrew Lippa, and all of the people performing (particularly Julia, hehee)

Did anyone go to this concert? I worked on Asphalt Beach (and love it!), and I was just wondering what the response to this show was.

Isn't "Asphalt Beach" going to be a movie musical with Kristin Chenoweth and Parker Poesy or was I on glue?

That was an original idea, but they ended up making it into a stage musical that premiered at Northwestern. IMDB is a little behind the times on this one!

I was at the concert last night. One of the most fun hour and a halves I have ever experienced. The only song from Little Princess he did was Live Out Loud, but he did say they were recording it in the near future. They did quite a few songs from Asphalt Beach, including (and I'm making up names here) This is My Life, More More More, What My Father Taught Me, Judy Bloom, Through it All, and Christmas is Nothing But Love. He also performed several of his own songs, and Julia Murney performed I'm Not Waiting and Raise the Roof. Overall and amazing concert and night!

I was there and loved it. Great show, great music, great CAKE, HORRIBLE drinks. If i wasnt sitting looking at their backs, it would have been better. Carly Jibson was amazing, and Julia Murney did I'm Not Waiting (ala her album lippa produced). Loved it.

I saw Asphalt Beach twice at NU (hehe hi stagemaster, how's home going?) and it was absolutely fabulous. From the listings of songs that you mentioned, they chose easily the best ones from the show, though the rest of the show is awesome as well. Hope the concert was great, wish I could've gone (but alas, in a different state....::sigh::).

I was at the concert too. Lippa's new material is amazing. Carly Jibson kicked major ass. Rob/Craig are we getting pictures from this event?

Edited to add: Does anyone know what the future is for Asphalt Beach? Are they trying to bring it to Broadway? Updated On: 12/14/06 at 10:00 AM

My friend goes to NU and saw the show and said it was great. Her friend did her production requirements on Beach and said Andrew was so great to everyone.

I'm pretty sure there are some pictures from the show on the Northwestern website.

There was definitely someone there taking pictures. I believe it was Craig.

Julia Murney bolted out of there as fast as possible. She said she had an "obscenely early" morning and left as soon as the show was over. Which was no big deal and understandable. I managed to catch her for about half a second to say that I knew she had to leave but she was great and she thanked me and stuff. She left with Megan McGinnis, who I really wanted to talk to. I did get to talk with Andrew for a few minutes, who was extremely nice. Talked to him a little about Wild Party and stuff. He asked us if we enjoyed it and stuff. Ana actually hung around the longest and was talking to people she seemed to know. No real interesting stories or anything. Very small benefit and everyone was very... calm.

A. Does anyone know what's going on with Asphalt Beach now?

B. Does anyone know who's on the Asphalt Beach demo? I recognize Jenn Colella's voice, but who else is on there?

[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.
