I saw Lisa, as Elphaba, on Wednesday night April 11th. My first time to see the musical..Lisa was amazing. How often does she get to step in? Can't imagine a better performance.

She's gone on like 15 times now.
Lisa must have gotten MUCH better, because her performance was said to be a disaster.

Her first was a disaster, I heard it (cough cough) but when I went on April 1, she was fantastic, and she's only gone on about 10 I am pretty sure. To be as good as she was when I went and only been on that much is pretty good. I also heard (cough cough) an audio of Eden as a standby and it wasn't pretty, so until you see them yourself, don't judge by other ppls opinions, I thought she rocked!

I saw Lisa go on for Wednesday performance as well! AMAZING voice but I thought she was a little too soft for the role. I could see her doing Nessarose but that would be a waste for her amazing talent.

How was her first performance a disaster?

Anything thing she sounds a rather lot like Idina (for good or for bad...just...noticed)?

millie_dillmount, she didn't seem then (and still doesn't to me now) like her voice was able to sustain the score. She has a lovely tone and a nice onslaught of power, but she was cracking all over the place on almost all of the "big" notes and going loud and flat on other key places too.

I agree with the previous poster in that she sounds eerily similar to Menzel in some of her more "quaint" moments, but she lacks the sheer ferocity (although ocasionally overpowering) and unrestrained amplification of Menzel's belt (though she has better control and placement than Idina ever did.)

I hope to see her get in the groove of things with more time as she is a stellar performer, but early indication seems to show me (from what I've seen of her) that this role may not be a good match for Lisa.

Her first wasn't a DISASTER, but she did crack a lot. When I saw her, she did have a VERY powerful voice in my opinion, and had improved A LOT since her first. But also, being a performer, I can understand that the first time isn't always the best, I'm really sure all the great Elphaba's weren't AMAZING their first time out, they just get the do it every day and get used to it, unlike standbys who get a few rehearsals and when they go on are expected to live up to the leads performance. There are many things to go into perspective, but someone said Julia is sick again, so Lisa should get a lot of practice and I think she is going to be really good once she gets more comfortable with it, she was already pretty awesome!

Her first wasnt a disaster. It was just her first show. I dont think she had much time to get ready, since Saycon had just left. She was probably nervous too. She has a gorgeous voice. Not very powerful, but still amazing. She messed up the words in What Is This Feeling but not terribly...and her No Good Deed was a little weird...but that was about it. I thought her For Good with Kendra was beautiful.

Lisa had a solid month of rehearsel before she ever went on for the first time. Sengbloh left February 11th and Lisa had already been in rehearsel since the day Julia took over in early January.

Wicked's standby's get good rehearsal time. If an Elphaba or Glinda stnadby is going on even for the first time, they have had a good amount of rehearsal time.

Lisa had some difficulty coming into the role, she said, but is really settling into it now.

When I saw her, she was in fabulous voice.
