"Looked like the movie choreography to rope people in. "
How woudl that rope people in? I doubt the average viewer who knows the movie but not the stage version would really recognize if it ws the movie choreography or the Broadway... And if it was one and not the other I doubt they'd think "Oh man I'm nto gonna go see that then..."

"typically hot male Chicago dancers"?
What show were YOU watching. Did you look beyond their bodies and get a look at those unnattractive, old and shop worn faces? I'm sorry, but there is so much better out there. I think Reinking is losing her touch

I would not pay to see that performance, unfortunately. She just moved back and forth with a little hip action thrown in. Ann Reinking's voice was not the draw when she performed, but her dancing was just amazing and worth every cent! Lisa seems very fake to me---I can't put my finger on it---just not a real performance.

Her lip injections overshadow absolutely everything she says or does. It's too distracting.

This is another example of "star" casting and getting a longer time before they start to have that "build" up to the opening date.
Harry and Lisa don't start until June 10th and someone said that replacements usually have to start within a few weeks of being cast. Apparently not, I guess it's all how the "stars" arrange their contracts and whether they were the one's looking for broadway or if broadway came looking for them. I know when it was announced on February 22 that Fantasia had a start date of April 10th in TCP some claimed that it was because she needed "work". Maybe so but she isn't the only "star" to have a longer period of time before they start.

Was anyone else as distracted by the big black man's chest as I was?
LOL!! Me! And a couple of the others weren't bad either.
When I saw the show years ago, there was also an extremely built black dancer in a shirtless vest. I had trouble looking at much else.

Hahah I knew I'd get flounced for this. I dunno for Broadway dancers who I prob won't see closer than 15 rows away I don't really thinkt hey should be cast on their faces (or bodies for that matter--howabout talent?) Some of the original Chicago revival dancers were looking MUCH older in the tooth if you look at some of the Rosie Chicago clips from 97-98, etc. *shrug*
I do agree that Lisa's lip injections have really ruined her career in many ways--it's just hard to get past them (was there an injoke from her when she sang the "They're gonna recognize me my boobs, etc" and pointed quickly to her lips? or was that just a flub? I hope it was an injoke which would give her a bit more charm)
I thought she terrible.
Why are people bashing the ensemble boys? They are so talented. There are maybe 2 seen last night that were in their late 40's/50's. They're not that old. And I don't see anything wrong with their faces. The CHICAGO ensemble is so exciting because they are all so real & mature. I love the fact that most of them are in their 30's & 40's.

Thank you--I agree. They're great dancers and that's what matters (it is interesting--my mom who was a big jazz dance rin the 60s and 70s commented when I took her to Chicago in the late 90s how you NEVER saw male dancers with any kinda build like that back then--part of new gym techniques and gym culture I guess--not that i'm complaining). If you look at clips of the 70s chorus boys (or check out the early 80s Pippin video) the guys aren't exactly all models, tho the mustaches prob help hide that I dunno, it seems pretty inane to complain. As for Anne losing her touch--this isnt; a complaint but like I said the original revival of CHicago cast of male dancers had a LOT of pretty old looking guys... ("shop worn")
ALthough I'd happily go back to the original "Roxie" costumes from the 70s production witht he boys in white, polka dotted brief underwear
Is this on youtube yet?

Ageist much? I suppose they should all just retire, move into a nursing home and die. Someday, you're gonna be unattractive, old and shop worn too. I hope you remember you said this when someone says the same about you.

Okay I just now saw this after taping it.....
First of all, she's awful and makes me want to rip my ears off my head.
Second of all, those are the Broadway boys backing her up. It's nice to see James Patrick Moran and Dan LoBuono back :) And of course, it's always nice to see Greg Butler (the man with the distracting chest lol)
Third of all, that was the Broadway choreography and not the movie choreography.
She's ghastly. I'll only see her if Im comped. lol

OK a friend of mien who knows Lisa from DAYS was asking about this and I sent him the youtube clip. He didn't knwo that Chicago was always so stuntcasted so I looked for other examples to find him on youtube and found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKMRbniL8xM Now it's prob unfair to compare and I'v enever been a huge fan of Marilu but as he, who's not a theatre guy at all, even said straight away there's no comparison. Lisa just seems pretty awful :P
and well said Just a Guy tho i gotta add that I think someone has pretty airbrushed perfect standards if they found them unattractive. shrug
