It just arrived in the mail from amazon.com and I cannot get enough of it.
I think the website is http://www.listentomyheartsite.com/
It is brilliant and beautiful. Funny and warming. So much of it says what I think, and don't think.
The cast is superb. I don't have to say who my favorite is, I am sure (Alix Korey).
Also, Anne Runolfsson does a brilliant job. It is hard to believe she has that powerful voice of Carlotta and the warming, beautiful voice she displays here.
Michael Hunsaker is great. I guess he sort of gets lost among the others, but his voice is very pleasant to listen to.
Joe Cassidy stops the show - er CD - with "If You Love Me Please Don't Feed Me." He has a great voice.
Allison Briner has her own show stoppers and is brilliant as the rest of the cast.
Alix Korey - I won't say anything. I could go on and on about how much I love her as a performer - but I won't.
Buy this.
BUMP
I know it isn't really new, but still!
I loved the music so much. Did you see it? It was wonderful.
Especially Alix Korey!
I want to be rich, famous and powerful.
I don't wanna audition, I don't wanna take class
I wanna be discovered while I'm sitting on my ASS
Thanks Corine!
A funny piece of info:
When I had Corine's Pix, a tv show that lasted 2 seconds.
I called David Friedman's people to ask permission to use that song as my theme song.
It would have been the theme of my show.
I am still not rich, famous or powerful.
Aw, poor Corine.
Well, I love it. I met Alix a week ago and it was great. I may be bashed for this - not that many people read this thread - but her voice is powerful and so great. It reminds me, in a lesser way, of the olde greats - like the Merm and Martin. But what do I know?
I have her solo CD (look at signature). It has three (I think) songs that she sings - but they lose a lot without the laughter on the CD.
She's a great performer and a great singer!
Nope. Not poor Corine. I had my show, it may have been for two seconds but it happened. And it will happen again.
Corine: I want clips of your show!!
Thanks. I wish I could show it. It belongs to Pix.
As part of my contract, I am not allowed to show it for two years.
But soon!
I love these CDs - I listen to them all the time. My favorite track is without a doubt "You're Already There," followed closely by "A Trick of Fate." If you can find a recording of Nicolette and Aucassian from anywhere, there are some GREAT Friedman songs there (one of them is on the NEO album that just came out) - but the best (for me) is "Nothing in Common But Love" -- absolutely beautiful!

Nobody can ever surpass Nancy Lamott's rendition.
I agree. And in addition, Friedman's "We Can Be Kind" ought to be used as an athem for the world. LaMott's rendition of that still breaks the heart and inspires at the same time.
I work with him all the time and I can honestly say, Ilove him, he's so talented and brilliant.
This was actually a really good show...
I really enjoyed Alix and the guy with the beard...His name escapes me, but his second act solo number was PHENOMINAL!!!
Yes, I've got Alix Korey's solo album "Songs My Mother Never Taught Me". It's a great theatre voice; I was interested to see she played Felicia in a NY reading of THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK a couple of years ago. She'd be ideal in that role.
Also, if you look at the Broadway Theatre Archive video of PIRATES OF PENZANCE in Central Park with Kevin Kline, you'll see Alix in there belting her socks off as one of the Major-General's daughters.
