Has anyone ever listened to a show in the lobby while the show was going on? Do they usually kick you out for that...just wondering because my parents went to see about tickets for Spamalot and they could hear some of the show, but only stuck around for a few minutes.

In that case, guilty as charged! I listened to "For Now" at Avenue Q a couple of weeks ago because I was purchasing tickets at the box office and just hung around until the end.
We heard a little of WICKED's act two opening scene when we were waiting in the downstairs lobby to meet Kristin one day...
I also listened to a good deal of RENT from the street (listening with my ear up to the doors of the OBC singing seasons of love on them). I also listened to Ill cover you reprise inside the nederlander lobby once.

I heard I'm Not Dead Yet in the lobby of Spamalot
I very faintly heard the beginning of Rent, just when I was walking down the street.
I heard some of Avenue Q while trying to get tickets and a souvenier program once. The lady there didn't want us around because she said our voices would carry into the auditorium.

i listened from the end of Your Eyes to the end of the show in the lobby.

Before Spamalot moved in and had the new doors put in, you used to be able to sit outside by the double doors to the theatre (the exits) on 44th and listen to the show.
Alas, the theatre now has soundproof doors.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
That reminds me that I listened to Rose's Turn once outside the Shubert
Listened to "TOGETHER WHEREVER WE GO" in the lobby to the Shubert while buying tickets.
chinkie, how could your voice not? Anyone who's seen the lobby of the Golden knows what I'm talking about.
For those who haven't... It's about 8 feet deep, from house doors to the street doors.
While the original cast was still around I listened to much of the end of Hairspray while a friend was on line buying tix. Bought tix myself because I had fun hearing the show again.
