Ok, we're doing Little Shop and the company won't give us an accompaniment (sp?) CD...we got the score and all, but we DO NOT do pits! We are going to have to make our own with Finale and a sound card, and it isn't gonna be easy and probably not very good.
Does ANYONE know how we can get an accual accompaniment CD?
I mean, all we want really is the off-Bway soundtrack (which they DID give us) with out the words!
And we already know we can't take the words of the soundtrack, it's too hard.
thanks

thank you. Do you know if these karaoke cds are good or not? I know sometimes they can be really synthesized and stuff. Also, do you know which one is best? We're doing the show, and none of these seem to have the entire show.
But thanks!
it's cheaper on Amazon...

The company won't give you one because it is illegal. The only shows that have "accompaniment CDs" are MTI's "Junior" shows for children and teens.
It is a violation of your contract with MTI to use recorded accomaniment.

really. that sucks. Well, last year we did Hello, Dolly! and we had a non-vocal cd, and I didn't think it was juniors, but maybe it was.
thank you
Wait, but if we are doing a small high school production where musicians are simply not avaliable, is it illegal to use just a piano cd (which one of my directors has from another production) or to make our own recording from the score with a music writing program?
Is it impossible for us to do this show without a life orchestra?
Actually it's not. MTI offeres the OrchEXTRA CDs for a few of their shows, as well as the RehearScore CDs for rehersals. If you're doing the show legally and have the rights you can contact MTI for more information about those offerings.

The OrchExtra from MTI isn't a CD - it's an intricate piece of electronic machinery that is actually controlled by the conductor so everyone stays "on the beat". You have to rent it from MTI, and it costs several hundred dollars.
If you usually have to pay musicians, it's a good deal. If you can get free musicians, it's not.
All you need to do is go to "Little Shop of Horrors CDs-R-Us"
I sent u a PM also about LSOH
Usefull stuff
