Little Shop of Horrors Tour Review 6/15

I had a GREAT night! I've love this show for awhile and last night made me love it so much more. The whole cast was in, except for James Moye (Orin et. al) and his understudy Jim Poulos performed. The urchins were great, they had a lot of attitude and spunk. They had good voices and were very enjoyable. Mr. Mushnik, Lenny Wolpe, was good, but we was my least favorite. Sometimes I felt like he was miscast, but he did a good job. Jim Poulos was also very good. Orin was never one of my favorite characters, but Jim did a great job playing him. Added just the right amount of comedy needed for Orin. Audrey II was also very good, sounded like Twoey. Now, the best 2 for last. Jonathan Rayson was so good! He acted the role perfectly and sounded great as well. I thought I would be disappointed because I missed Anthony Rapp in the role, but Jonathan did an awesome job. To me he sounded a little like Hunter Foster. And then my favorite in the cast, Tari Kelly. I was a big Kerry Butler fan and I thought I would also be disappointed with Tari because I loved Kerry in the role. But I only heard good things about Tari, so I glad to see she was in. She had me at "Good morning Mr. Mushnik." She was awesome as Audrey! I loved her in the role. She sang it and acted it very well. She was definitely my favorite in the cast. If you get a chance to see it, GO! You won't be sorry. It was a great production!

I got to see the BEST Seymour ever almost a year ago, Anthony Rapp!!! He was great! I was in a show the next month at the same theatre and used the same dressing room as those doo-whop girls! Haha big kick for me. I think Chiffon stole the show!

Tari Kelly was a FANTASTIC AUDREY!!! Unlike yourself, I was not a fan of Kerry's Audrey, so I was really worried about Tari. But she was amazing. She played her Audrey similar to Ellen Greene (mostly in her "Audrey voice"), but still put her own twist on it. I sent her an email after I saw the tour telling her how amazing I thought she was and how I had hoped to meet her - but alas, it was a huge group of college kids and they were like, "No, let's go get Taco Bell!" But what impressed me the most was that she was sweet enough to ask for my address to send me something... and boy was I surprised when I opened my mailbox one day to find a Playbill signed by the entire cast AND a note from Tari!

Tari Kelly is a vocal powerhouse! She IS Audrey. Def. one of my favorites in the cast. Glad you had a good time.
