Avenue Q.

There is no question about that. Avenue Q is brilliant! It has an amazingly talented cast with the best book and music on broadway! It has great direction and is a wonderfully conceived show and is well worth your money. Not to mention the show is jaw droppingly HILARIOUS! With a giant heart at the center of it!(Avenue Q is more enjoyable then Little Shop and Wicked)

Little Shop is fun but it some how lost its focus and direction. It's not funny where it should be and as much as they try to get us to CARE about these characters, we just dont. Hunter is great and so is Audrey II. Kerry sounds amazing but is just missing something. And the 3 black girls are AMAZING! They steal the show! But over all there is just something missing from the show.

By the 3rd song in Avenue Q I LOVED the show and I knew I was in for something extremly special (for the rest of the show).

Avenue Q will not fail.

Please, please.

Call them "The Urchins", "Crystal, Ronnette, Chiffon", or "The Motown Greek chorus."

But please do not call them "The three black girls." It's just wrong. You didn't call Hunter Foster the White Male Lead. I'm sorry I'm getting so defensive, I'm just sensitive.

Go see Little Shop of Horrors! I didn't notice anything 'missing'. I, personally, felt bad for the characters in the end. Though some people did laugh a bit because of the way the characters projected themselves during the last scene. Oh well, not everything is going to make you cry...

I, personally, would go see Little Shop, but hearing someone say Kerry Butler was missing something got me thinking. I think Kerry may be missing depth. Her character seems somewhat empty. When I saw Ellen Greene, she showed such depth to who Audrey was. That may just be because in the movie she sang "Somewhere That's Green" to herself in her bedroom and we saw glimpse of her by herself- a soliloquy sort of moment. I think if Kerry sang it to herself, it would have been more effective, in my opinion. But we DO get to see Audrey start to tear and kind of reveal herself with the audience.
Ugh! I really don't know. I just think Greene's interpretation was a lot deeper. I still am in love with Kerry's interpretation, though.

I'd say Avenue Q...... certainly a fresher, funnier show. Little Shop was just okay (in my opinion), but Avenue Q had me rolling from beginning to end.

Both are wonderful. Can you see them both in the same day?
I have to say I adored Avenue Q. The writing is funny, irreverent, like nothing I have ever seen.
Little Shop is also over the top and wonderful and then there is Audrey 1 and 2.
Why not see them both.
But which is the better Monster? Trekkie, Katemonster or Audrey2 that is the real question.
Oh and the best monster is Katemonster! Updated On: 11/27/03 at 11:08 PM

It depends on what type of puppets you're into?
If you're a size- ...umm...I mean...theatre-queen,
I'd say that you'd probably enjoy LITTLE SHOP more
'cause the puppets are enormous.
But if "puppet-size" doesn't matter much to you, then,
AVENUE Q...
So...If "you're a Top..."Q's" the coliseum..."
Personally, I wouldn't spend $100.00 on either one. Updated On: 11/28/03 at 12:20 AM

I can't vouch for LSOH because I saw the original, enjoyed it but am in no great hurry to see the revival.

But I adored AVENUE Q.

Avenue Q without a doubt. LSOH isn't even in the same league.

I have to agree with Kavana. LS, is a HORROR. Ave Q, on the other hand is an intelligent piece for adults with a brain and a sense of humour. Updated On: 11/29/03 at 02:25 PM

Why choose? See both! If truly pressed, though, I'd say LSOH, but, really...SEE BOTH! :)

"I have to agree with Kavana. LS, is a HORROR. Ave Q, on the other hand is an intelligent piece for adults with a brain and a sense of humour. "

I guess what we're assuming here is that the posters are adults. From the responses, I'm guessing that they're younger folk who don't "get" Ave Q yet. Just an assumption since I can't see how in the world anyone could say LSOH is better than Ave Q. re: re: Little Shop of Horrors vs. Avenue Q

I would certainly saw Avenue Q over LSOH, having seen both productions recently. LSOH didn't really impress me at all, whereas Ave Q was consistently entertaining and interesting. Plus, I feel like the Ave Q cast has more to them than the LSOH. I didn't feel like the cast in LSOH was all that great, which may have been the material, their performances, or some combination of the two. I would choose Ave Q any day!

Why must it be one or the other.
I loved both.
I do have to say that Avenue Q has become my favorite show this season.
But Little Shop has Kerry Butler and she has a great voice.
Go see both.
