Definitely sing something with a higher range. Seymour is a baritone, but he sings some higher notes as well.
Suddenly Seymour
unless you dont want to do a song from that show
hmmmm, a Charlie Brown song?????? Charlie Brown and Seymour have alot in common......

How about "Grow For Me"? That is one of Seymour's big solos. It will show them that you are able to sing good and you are able to sing songs from the show. It also proves that you are at least fimiliar with the show. I think that is good advice, but I woudn't really know because I don't know that much about the auditioning process. Good Luck! I love LSoH!
Seymour needs to powerhouse a couple of A's and a B-flat...
Sing something that shows off these notes...
One Song Glory...or Sit Down Youre Rockin the Boat
"Seymour needs to powerhouse a couple of A's and a B-flat"
Above the staff??????
I wouldn't recommend Grow For Me...it doesn't show off the range enough.I second One Song Glory..or maybe try Why, God, Why?
Find out if they want you to sing a song from the show or not.
Oh my. Do NOT sing anything from the show. First rule of auditioning for musical theatre: don't sing a song from the show. Second, Seymour doesn't have any Bb's in the show. It's more like an A, MAXIMUM. It's a baritone role, and there are ways around those high notes if they like you enough. Show something that shows character, as acting is a little more prefered in a role like Seymour. Audrey is the one that has to sing. Seymour is a completely character role. Something like "Mr. Cellophane" would be good, though that song is probably too well-known to do. If you've got time I'd go and search for some unknown songs that show off character while still showing you can carry a tune. Break a leg!

try "Corner of the Sky" from Pippin. Shows off some high notes.

Actually it might not be a bad idea to sing something from the show. i auditioned for Seymour last year at my HS. I am black. I sang one of Seymour's songs...and i was up against some real Seymour-looking guys...i admit, i dont have the look, but when i sang Seymour's verse from Skid Row...i brought down the house...everyone was cheering outside the door, in the hall...needless to say, i was casted as....Seymour.
i broke the tradition of the white guy being Seymour, and the Black guy being the plant..just a thought...dont be afraid to sing something from the show, if they want you to sing something else, have something else prepared...but i suggest following your heart, and not what's the popular decision.

Maybe something from Honk! Like Different, or Now I've Seen You.
DTBG, though that works sometimes (very rarely), it's THE first rule of auditioning not to sing a song from the show. It's often included in the audition rules for that particular show (i.e. sing a contemporary musical theatre song not from the show). It's just not what they need. If they see something in you, they'll ask you to sing for that role in callbacks.

I know the rule, i am a performer! But i dont usually follow all the rules, and that time it did work out for me. As i was singing i could actually see it in the Musical Directors face that i shouldn't be singing something from the show...but at the end, she was also the one giving me a standing ovation.
But you cant just sing something from the show, you have to give them a demo. I moved around the stage, looked depressed, gave her a natural performance of how i saw Seymour in my head. She told me late that she saw my vision and that i seemed connected to the character already...i was the smart choice..See where I'm going with this Saminalagreg...but make your own choice, i just wanted to share my story with you...cuz i had to make the same decision last year, for the same role.

Yes, dont do a song from the show. That's just cheesy. When does seymour hit an A? We did it in high school and don't remember the part being that challenging.
