Yet....although its not the best of shows...I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Is that terrible?
I saw the tour a while back and found it to be very boring at times. I had never read the book so some parts were confusing to me. The score was simply.....ok. For the most part it was very generic. The only stand outs were Astonishing and Days of Plenty.

As a male, I didn't find myself bored by the story at all. I was actually really intrigued. I thought the sets were beautiful, and I really enjoyed the score. A few songs could have been chang, but overall I thought it was pretty solid.
At the begining of Act 2 there was a nurse on stage - or something like that, and I kept wondering "Wow, what a horrible role to play." Because she basically didn't do anything.
Anyways, my whole problem was the ending of the show. It seemed to lack something and the song didn't really add a whallop like most endings do. It justs sort of ended.

I hadn't either, but I wasn't confused. I was just sad that such great actors were in such a mediocre show. When I wasn't being amused by certain people's antics, of course. And Maureen McGovern being pretty neato.
I think the music of Take A Chance on Me is thrilling, and perfectly captures the eager headiness of a young man pursuing a young girl that he wants to be more than friends with.
Five Forever is cheerful, and appropriately specific for the moment it occupies in the show.
I find Some Things Are Meant to Be to be very touching. Yes, maybe some of the lyrics are trite, but there is a consistent tone that the sisters speak to one another in, and it can be very moving, if you allow yourself to be seduced by a little bit of pure sentiment. (Wow, the run- on sentences in this post are killer.)
I also like Fire Within Me, Sometimes When You Dream, and even Astonishing.
I'm glad that this not- so- perfect- but- worthy- in- it's- own- way musical is finding a place in regional theatres and schools.
I prefer the score of the Winona Ryder movie.
