All I'm going to say is that Sutton Foster is brilliant. She can sing (belt and legit), act (comedic and dramatic), and dance.

If she doesn't win a 2nd Tony, there is no justice in the world.

Without her, this show wouldn't be very good at all. I had a few problems with the show. Some songs were alright and memorable, such as Astonishing and Some Things are Meant To Be. However, none of the songs advanced the plot at ALL. For example, Marmee sings Here Alone, we know she is all alone and her husband is gone.. we don't need a whole song that doesnt make her character anymore.

ALso, they handled Beth's death TOTALLY wrong. The audience should be in tears when she dies, not just have the room be black and someone say "When Beth died.."

Also, Maureen McGovern was out, and her understudy was alright, nothing special. Megan McGinnis was very good, the best after Sutton Foster, and Danny Gurwin has a great voice.

Also, the sets and costumes were good, the lighting even better.

My Final Rundown:

Sutton Foster- A++
The Show: C+

PS- For some reason, I kept comparing this to Jane Eyre. I liked Jane Eyre a lot more I think, much better music. However, that show didnt have a Sutton Foster. Updated On: 12/26/04 at 11:56 AM

You were there too??
It looks like 25% of BroadwayWorld.com went to see little women on the 25th..
I was there and i totally agree about Beth's death.

Yep, through TDF.. where were your seats?

They could have had Beth dying on a bed with Jo at her side with the other sisters.. and reprised Some Things are Meant to Be. It was too good of a song to not be reprised!
