Maureen McGovern, was magnificent as Marmie. I was very impressed with both of the songs she sang.
The second half of the show was much stronger then the first half.
Loved "Days Of Plenty"
"Here Alone"
"The Fire Within Me"

is that good or bad?
It will appeal to children. I was most impressed with Maureen McGovern as Marmie. Her singing was exceptional.
The show on the other hand did not follow the book. What happened to the Father. He comes home in the book and they seemed to write him out.
I didn't read the book, so I enjoyed it - Sutton Foster was "astonishing".
Sutton is very talented, she blew me away in Millie. Updated On: 2/3/05 at 09:19 AM
Corine, he did come home for Jo's wedding supposedly but we didn't see him since he gets there after the final curtain. And it does follow the book - but you can't fit that entire novel into 2.5 hours. That's a major part of the problem.
And of course Maureen is magnificent - are you new to this board, woman??
Rath,
Her singing. I want to see her in a one woman show. She made Little Women a JOY!
Don't get me wrong about Sutton. I have always thought of her as exceptional. I just did not like her as much as I thought I would in this role.
Maureen stands out.
Corine,
You've been a denizen of NYC your whole life and you are "new" to Maureen McGovern, who has been gracing the clubs now for decades.
Interesting.
They don't call her The Stradivarius Voice for nothin'. She has an extremely rare gift.
What did you think of Amy? I couldn't help but picture her as the troll in her wedding dress.
My Amy theory: this is Kristin Chenoweth's way of staying on Broadway while becoming a tv/movie star - she has quite obviously cloned herself.

Kristin Chenoweth is all over Broadway. Amy McAlexander, Kate Reinders, I'm sure there's more!
I, too, wondered why father didn't come home. They say that the war had ended, and I was to assume that the reason he was gone was because he was working in the war. Especially in Beth's death.
Maureen McGovern is definitely the highlight of this production.
Maureen RULES.

I've heard from a few people that Amy (in LITTLE WOMEN, at least) is like your ten-year-old niece screaming in your ear. And that she OVER-over-enunciaTeS her ConsonanTs.
I'd love to hear her sing for myself, but not in LITTLE WOMEN. I refuse to see LITTLE WOMEN.
Joshua, they all punch their t's and d's - even my perfect Maureen. It's clearly the director's choice, but it's distracting.
