I had a very good time there! It was such a thrill to see Liza. James Lipton interviewed her mostly about her career (starting with "Liza with a Z," which, I found out from Lipton, is going to be released on DVD, don't know when, though) and her relationship with her world-famous parents, Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland. She kept having microphone difficulties but that didn't stop her. She also sang a few songs with Billy Stritch at the keys. She sang "Don't Smoke in Bed," "Quiet Love," and "If You Hadn't But You Did." On the latter, she messed up on the end of the second verse, but I don't blame her because that's a lot of words to remember. She also sang a snippet of "Liza with a Z"...in French! She mostly talked about her relationships with Kander, Ebb, and Fosse.
She only mentioned Peter Allen once, when she and her mother performed at the London Palladium and he was in the front row shouting "Bring out Liza!!" But she saved her alcoholism as the last topic. Boy, you guys should've seen this. It was like magic! She got long applauses every time. Can't wait to see what the final result on television is.
