Did anyone catch this on BBC4 last week?
I was round at some friends' last night who said "You've got to see this - you'll love it." And I was absolutely rivetted:
Alan Cumming explores the impact of the musical Cabaret in terms of both its replication of the Berlin cabaret scene of the 1930s and the influence both had on attitudes towards homosexuality.
Includes interviews with Liza Minnelli, John Kander, Joe Masteroff, footage of Christoher Isherwood being interviewed in 1973, German cultural historians of the period and relations of the real Sally Bowles.
Available on BBC i-player 'til 8:59pm Tuesday 29th October 2009
