They are keeping the show at casino 90 minutes length. Out is the Palace medley, My Own Best Friend, and World goes round. They might be filming different numbers every night.. who knows. The show was excellent. The crowds adored her and the Kaye Thompson stuff is working better than ever. Seeing it again in about one hour...

Posted: 9/30/09 at 9:57pmI forgot to mention. She dropped the mike while flipping it from hand to hand during the last verse of Cabaret. She joked " That's what I get for trying to impress you". And started the next to last verse again. Crowd went wild. It was one of those magical things that come with live performance. In the audience up right front were the producers and Neil Meron and Crag Zadan. The showroom is beautifully lit and the set looks stunning. The show is ready to be on tv.

Posted: 9/30/09 at 10:01pmAlso forgot.. at last nights performance "What makes a man a man" was also out. Show starts at 8 pm sharp and they have you back at the casino at exactly 9:30pm. I would have rather she cut that overdone " IF" number and kept What makes a man. But I am hoping the alternate songs appear in tonights show. Anyone else gone or is going?

I'm glad they cut that "What Makes a Man a Man" number...it's so 1978.
And the Palace medley is also a good cut. The high note she hit on "Some of These Days" was excruciating. And it comes twoce in that medley!
Sounds like Craig and Neil are cutting the show down to the numbers that show her off best. She needs that. She needs THEM.

Just so you know..
I saw the show last night, and none of those numbers were cut out of the show. Maybe they pulled them out of the first few nights, because she is doing a full week of shows. The show ran about 2:15 last night, and even had an intermission. I know they are filming tonight, followed by an Industry late night (invite only) performance for local performers in town. She did this her last time around, and was such a hit!
The show is fantastic and LIZA is a gem. I just wished they would have taped it in NYC, LV audiences don't appreciate her, like a New York crowd.

Posted: 10/1/09 at 3:20amNo intermission again tonight. They did the "hear's to the band" number while she changed. "Round" was back in. Filmed with one camera JIG and two hand helds. Monday nights show was better. There is a industry show tomorrow night and a private taping earlier.

Posted: 10/1/09 at 12:52pmIn the audience last night was Michelle Lee who was gracious enough to talk some Knots Landing with me and did not run away . Heading home. Liza'd out.

Posted: 10/1/09 at 4:54pmI'll be at the Gypsy show tonight and they are supposed to be filming it as well. I'm sure she'll get a HUGE response from tonight's audience. Also, it's the LAST time they are doing LIZA AT THE PALACE before she heads to Australia to do a tour so I'm sure it will be quite emotional for all concerned.

Posted: 10/1/09 at 6:28pmTonights show looks like it will be in its entirety. They were having more camera blocking rehearsals today. I did prefer the abbreviated intermission less version of the show. It moved much better and created more of a wallop. A couple of the dancers and musicians have been blogging. Look them up on face book or google them if you want to know more about the process.

I was there tonight for her FINAL performance of LIZA AT THE PALACE and it was very emotional for everyone on and off the stage. It was an invitation only audience of friends and show folk from the Las Vegas shows. I won't get into a full review as it's late and I'm spent! But she put on a 2 1/2 hour show that would knock the socks off ANYONE! We saw her do this show when she was just putting it together before NY when she did it at Primm. While it was great to see her then she showed signs of age and lack of energy. That was NOT the case tonight for ONE SECOND!!! She appeared younger, more energetic and every bit the "Liza" we all know and love. While this was taped tonight she only briefly backtracked to immediately get right back on course and usually with the audience giving more love the 2nd time around than the 1st if that was even possible. It was very special to be a part of the journey with her tonight.
There were several stars in attendance:Kathy Griffin, Barry Manilow, Carrot Top, Renee Zellweger just to name a few. Her brother Joe was there and giving lots of love and support. A few times she got emotional and had to stop as this was the last time she would be performing LIZA AT THE PALACE. She is going to Australia to tour, but without her boys. She received a standing ovation after almost every song and every single one was well deserved. Watching her tonight was like stepping back into the past when going to see STARS do shows live meant something. For everyone in that audience tonight it meant ALOT to be there and I hope we let Liza know she means the world to us.

Thanks for the great review. Sounds like it was an incredible night, with an incredible performance.
Can't wait to buy the dvd! Let's hope the dvd will have bonus features and stuff like that.

Joey has been at every single performance.
It will be a excellent television program. All involved from star to production did a outstanding job on this one. Lots of love was put in.
FYI .. the show she is doing in Australia is the show she has been touring with since "Palace" closed in NY. She has been doing the "Palace" show in one version or the other for 3 years . The Primm show you are referring to was just part of that tour and the palace engagement was not even in the wind yet.

My favorite quote "Perhaps unequaled in her ability to hold the stage alone, Minnelli has an emotional gravity (imbued by her classic showbiz lifeline) that " I 'm gonna say it " Bette Midler and Cher combined can't equal."
I wouldn't go as far as making the comparison with Bette. But Cher's show ( as seen this past Tuesday...I believe..long week in Vegas) is a empty vacuum that is best compared with the antiquated robotic statues in Caesars Palace. It was a boring affair.

Posted: 10/2/09 at 2:58pmDame, interesting comment about Cher. I saw here twice this week. Once Saturday night where she had a fantastic audience that didn't sit down for 90% of the show and then again on Tuesday (possibly you were there) when the audience NEVER stood until the very end of the show and was noticably a lower energy audience. Therefore they got a lower energy performance. That may have been what you saw. But there is still absolutely no comparison to Liza...she could have lit the entire Strip with her energy last night. Such and honor to see it and I'll be buying that DVD to see it over & over. Thanks for the Palace/tour history too.

Posted: 10/2/09 at 3:37pmYes Sake.. I believe it was Tuesday night. What was with her rambling about the union stage hands? And way too much video stuff.. more than she has ever done. The audience was on its feet for turn back time and believe. But the rest was pretty much as you said. I don't think I need to see Cher again for a while. They should all go watch Liza and take notes.

"I'm glad they cut that "What Makes a Man a Man" number...it's so 1978"
I agree with that, I also think that cutting "And The World Goes 'Round" was a big mistake though, actually it is the only song I was looking forward to seeing, I somehow lost interest now.

Posted: 10/2/09 at 3:49pmShe did "What Makes a Man a Man" last night and there were tears in the audience she was so good!
