Lyric Opera Chicago presents Regent Park's JC Superstar

Just picked up on this,  the Regents Open Air production of Superstar that won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and Best Musical in the Evening Standard Awards is playing in Chicago this April and May - is this a pre-Broadway try out or is this the show that is going on the road? Really Useful is involved are they  importing the British cast?

The Lyric has been presenting a classic musical each season for several years, but this really struck me as such a bizarre choice.  I've heard mixed opinions on this particular production and at Lyric prices, I doubt I'll gamble on it.

For the past few years the Lyric has been importing productions from other countries for their musicals. The recent The King and I, and My Fair Lady were both from the Theatre De Chatlet. It may be a cost issue. I'm kinda fascinated to see who they will get to star in this, that will probably determine weather I go or not. Last season at the Parmount in Aurora was a fantastic production with an all black cast.

Dont' worry about prices, there always seems to be some sort of discount through out the runs on their shows

If he is bringing any of the British cast, I hope it's Tyrone Huntley and not Declan Bennett. The former sings and acts the **** out of Judas, while the latter (Jesus) wouldn't pass muster as dust on the floor in a high school production. For once they picked the rock sound, kudos for that, but the man is utterly without the range.
