London theatre rush, cheap tix, etc.

Sorry for posting this here, but the London board doesn't seem too active.

I'm going to London for a theatre trip in a week. Many of my tickets are already bought, but I have some slots open. Does anyone know if there's a website for London that lists rush policies for all the different shows and/or theatres? I've heard that there are prominent student discounts for most shows, which I'd like to use.

I would also appreciate any other tips regarding London theatre-going that you may have to offer. I have a lot of experience rushing and seeing theatre in NYC, but I don't know how different it will be there.

They have what is called day seats which is our equivalent of rush. The difference there, at least the last time i was there (about 4 years ago), nobody lines up early. I "day seated" Deathtrap In January cold weather two hours early and was the only one in line. Finally, theater staff felt sorry for me and let me come inside a half hour early. The next day I "day seated" Flashdance and arrived 10 minutes before box office and again no one was there. I guess it also depends on the show. They have a site I think it is called theatermonkey that gives info definitely on seats and shows that offer day seats.

Don't forget TKTS in Leicester Square. They don't have the crazy long lines like the Times Square location.

Turning up roughly at the theatre roughly an hour before the show stars is a great way of getting cheap tickets. It's not without it's risks though, the show might be completely sold out for that night but more often than not there will be one or two seats dotted around the theatre that will be sold to you for a great price.

The booths in Leicester Square can be pretty expensive.
