Going in May and hoping that Irons and Manville bring out the overwhelming sadness in this great play. Still regret not seeing the Dennehy / Redgrave production years ago. Text definitely speaks to me as I grew up with a grandmother who had lifelong addiction issues after being prescribed morphine after a difficult birth in her teens back in the 1920s. The first time I read the play, Mary Tyrone really hit home for me. Manville got very good reviews in England, Irons less so, which surprised me, as James Tyrone is such a powerhouse part.
