When I was sitting in the theater to see La Cage yesterday, I noticed a few seating tables, raised up a step, in front of the first row (the actors play to those people). When the people starting sitting at those tables, the people who were in the first row (right behind them)could not see the stage at all. They were pretty upset---and I think, rightly so. Has anyone had experience with this seating arrangement?
When I saw this show, I was sitting in the first row, center section, just behind the tables. The view was only slightly blocked by a few heads, but it wasn't significant. "Not see the stage at all"? That seems unlikely.

Ok---the people in the first row on the side had very large people in front of them and they were straining. I didn't see the same issue with the people in the center orchestra section. I just saw those particular people and they were upset because the entire table was filled with large, tall people, who seemed to block their view. It must have been just that particular group of people------

When I saw the show, I was in the first row, first seat on the aisle, on the right side -- and yes, I could barely see the stage due to the people at the tables. The person I was with (in the second seat off the aisle) almost left because he couldn't see a thing.
Perhaps the issue is lessened a bit if you're in the center section, but the tables are definitely an issue for those in the first row of the left- and right-hand sections.

quiz.. we all know you are over 6ft.. enough with it
I have no recollection of quizking talking about how tall he is...
I have stated it before when asking for advice on picking seats (especially if people say the stage is too high). I only stated to fully disclose my bias about why I felt my seating was fine.
Since I am tall, I can see fine from those seats directly behind the cabaret tables. Someone who is shorter than me may not be as lucky.
My theatre prayer is "Dear God, please don't let anyone tall sit in front of me and please let the show be good".

I hope not to sit behind someone tall or with big hair or wearing a hat.
This is why I'm a fan of the lower mezzanine.
