Does anyone know anything about this musical....it's website is very mysterious.............
It's premiering in Toronto next year. Have you ever read the books or seen the movies? I haven't, but...
I have seen the movies not read the books....
I really hope that they do a good job...
if the music is good it will be a great musical becuase the story is sooooo good but if the music is bad i will not be a happy camper!

My whole family is flying to Toronto to see it because a family friend is in it. Very excited!
And to wickedfreak, yes, lots of people know about it. They've done about $20million in advance ticket sales!
This show is iffy... still wondering how well they will do. The music has to be great and the set and costumes have to be amazing to pull it off right. Since this show has a great story and you NEED to allow the audience to see what their imagination draws out when reading the book (look at the movie). I really just think this show isn't one that can be bare with simple set/costumes. I dunno, just my opinion...
I read the books, and loved them, the world you imagined with the great story. I love fantasy books like that and if you can't see it on stage... it won't be too great.
I would read the books if I wanted to imagine things myself, I would see this show as a musical to see that be brought nto stage with hopefully could music and everything else...
We'll see how it turns out, it's definetly a coin toss IMO, could go either way.

jay, who said it was going to be 'bare with simple sets/costumes'? It is going to be the exact opposite of that, trust me. They are totally transforming the POW theatre so that you enter the "experience" the minute you walk through the doors.
sheesh, doesn't anyone READ anymore........the movies don't compare to the books.......

Funny, Elphaba, that's how I feel about WICKED the musical.
It's supposed to be more of an "epic" as they're calling it rather than a traditional musical. The characters won't having an soul bareing ballads, but the songs fit with the story itself. Like I know an exmaple was Arwen singing a lullaby to Frodo etc.
There was a great article that I posted a while ago where they interviewed James Loye who's playing Frodo.
