Think Cirque du Soliel.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Oddly enough, this makes me feel better.

No, we'd see it at Universal Studio's CityWalk. re: Lord of the Rings now called a Theatrical Event?

Interesting thought. Would this make more money in a U.S. sit-down production, or a tour?

Because of the cast size, I doubt they would do both.

Mr. Wynn will probably build a special LOTR Theatre for the show itself with like... things hanging from the ceiling or something... maybe indoor trees.

I really really look for this.

Hope I can afford the ticket though.

It sounds like it's too big to tour effectively as envisioned...I'd be just as happy with it never coming near Broadway and ruining my mental imagery of the book and the very-well-conceived film trilogy...

Well bwaysinger, it does sound like the Cast Recording would be great as background music while you are reading the actual novel.

No, that would be Howard Shore's gorgeous, masterpiece score for the film trilogy.

That said, over the years there has been countless musical compositions inspired by Tolkien (everything from folk music to Led Zeppelin), so I'm looking forward to what the musical team can come up with.

yes, Blue Wizard, I COMPLETELY agree with you. However, I did say that it would be "great" not "the best".
