Posted: 4/14/05 at 2:44amIve heard "Lost in the Wilderness" and it has some High G's , I think mostly tenors could sing it but I am sure you can switch the notes and sing as baritone or bass . Good luck =)

Posted: 4/14/05 at 4:12amIf you use the riffs from the original recording by Darius DeHaas the song goes up to a B or C, if I'm not mistaken. But it's not written that way. It goes up to a G or so.

Posted: 4/14/05 at 1:31pmThe version on the CD that Darius sings is a whole step higher than the published sheet music. The CD version sits on A's and he riffs to a C or Dflat I believe.

Posted: 4/14/05 at 1:38pmAlright lol, now I feel better. I thought the sheet music was lower. Everyone's like, "it's in a normal tenor range, you should be able to sing it easily." I try to sing along with the cd, and I'm like, "DAMN, this is high!"

But for the love of God, don't sing it with those riffs unless you can really hit them.
Frankly, I think it's a lose-lose for 99% of singers...no one sings it like Darius, and even if you can sing those notes, you'll sound musically unoriginal for copying his version. And if you lower it, it only calls attention to the fact that you've sung alternate notes.
Plus it's waaaaaaaaaay overdone. Unless you're in high school, pick another song.

Posted: 4/14/05 at 5:53pmYeah that's what I was wondering...I can hit a B, so i'm not worried, but i don't want to buy the **** music if its lower. I mean is the sheet music the one that uses the G? I just like songs that are a little "belty" for the guys. I like to blare notes every now and then. Currently i'm singing "what is about her?" from wild party - lippa.

hey. this is marty thomas. Happened to see your posting. There is a great website for finding sheet music called sunhawk.com. With a PC you can purchase the song and print it in any key you want. "Lost In The Wilderness" is available there....and some of these posts are right, it's a bit overdone, but not often done well. If you can sing it well, it's very impressive! Good luck! Marty

I was in CHILDREN OF EDEN, and the key in the published score is indeed a step lower than Darius' rendition of the song. I was a little disappointed that I wouldn't have the chance to show off my A, but it was probably a good thing- since my A only shows up about half the time. if you insist on the higher version, then sunhawk is a good option. or you might as well have them transpose it to an even higher key while you're still young and can show it off.
for an audition, Wilderness is becoming rather overdone. if you've got the C#, how about Pity The Child? if you sing it well, people will buy you meals.
