Alright, so as some of you may know, my family got tickets for GREY GARDENS for the end of December. Well, the deal is that my dad thinks he lost the tickets- he can't find them anywhere, and is pretty sure he got them in the mail. There is a possibility he maybe didn't get them in the mail, and the tickets haven't been sent yet, but we've gotten all the other tickets for the other shows we're seeing, so it is highly unlikely.
Basically, if you didn't get the above paragraph, what happens if you lose tickets to a show? If I called up Telecharge, and gave them the order confirmation number and such, would they resend the tickets out to us? Or are we screwed?
Any help would be appreciated, this is pretty important!
Thanks

I'm sure you aren't screwed. They can look them up in the computer system. The seats you have are yours, they aren't being sold to anyone else. I'd call and see what they say but...I'm pretty sure things will work out. You can even get them that day at the theatre like a half hour before the show.

Call telecharge. If their like most tickets and are barcoded, they can just inactivate the old barcode and send you new tickets.

The only time you're in a real problem is if you bought your tickets from a ticket broker. Ticketmaster and/or Telecharge can both re-print your tickets no problem as long as you ordered from them.

If you bought from a ticket broker and thus can't verify the name and billing address ect. to Telecharge, you have to go and beg the house manager with your sob story. If they're nice, they'll let you in with a little white piece of paper that basically means you can go in and sit in the seats you think you have but if anyone comes in with a ticket to a seat you're sitting in you're asked to leave no matter what. As long as you're not lying and the broker was legit this is fine. However, it depends on whether the house manager will let you do that or not.

This has happened to me twice in my 20-year history of buying tickets to shows. In each case, the tickets just never seemed to arrive (or maybe they did and I accidentally chucked them?)Both cases worked out fine.

You call Telecharge or Ticketmaster or whoever and tell them what happened. They will not send you new tickets - they'll tell you to go to the box office on the day of the show and they'll give you a special pass. The pass will unfortunately have a statement on it saying that you agree that if the "real" ticketholder shows up you will relinquish your seats. I guess there's a tiny chance that some evil neighbor picked the tickets out of your mailbox at home.

Bring the credit card that you used to buy the tickets. When there's a dispute they go by the owner of the credit card.

I misplaced tickets for Spamalot in preview and they replaced them, no problem. But I learned my lesson...if I am buying in advance, I let the box office hold on to them. I LOSE EVERYTHING.

thanks very much for the extra info, John

i'll remember to tell my parents to bring the credit card they used to get the tickets. should i also bring the order confirmation i printed out? and yeah, lets hope my "evil neighbor" didnt steal the tickets, haha...i doubt they would even be able to figure out what Broadway is, haha
:)

thanks everyone

Usually they print the seat number and show date on the credit card receipt in the case of tickets being lost or stolen. I'm sure there will be no problem, though. Enjoy the show. I saw it Saturday and it's definitely an interesting show with incredible performances.

I had two extra tickets to the Madonna concert at MSG last summer and sold them of Craigslist. The guy who bought them from me lost them, so I, as the purchaser, had to get them replaced for him at the box office just before the start of the show.

This got me thinking: If I were a nasty, nasty person, what would stop me from buying tickets to something, selling them and then calling and saying I lost them and getting my voucher the day of the show? Ticketmaster was very clear that the second I asked for the voucher, the old tickets were invalid even if they were located.
