You won the chance to purchase lottery tickets to Groundhog Day at the August Wilson Theatre in New York, NY, for the Wednesday, September 13, 2017 2:00PM performance! To purchase your 2 ticket(s)*, click here and use the one-time use code crmM2qDq.
A few things to remember about your purchase:
- You must purchase your tickets TODAY by 10:00PM EDT!
- Your seats may be located anywhere in the theatre.
- Additional fees may apply during purchase process.
Just received an email from luckyseat that this code was voided. Sorry!!!
Winning lottery codes are meant for the winners and should not be distributed publicly. Any purchases made with the codes listed above may be voided and may not be allowed to enter the theatre. If anyone has questions about this, feel free to e-mail help@luckyseat.com
Thanks,
The Lucky Seat Team
Wow, didn't realize that was against the rules. Just got an email that repeat offense will lead to banning from all Lucky Seat lotteries.
Really curious, what's the harm in sharing a code if the winner can't go? Is there an assumption that not all codes will be redeemed, like with airlines double booking seats?
I would understand repercussions if someone was selling winning codes for a markup (especially for sold out shows) since it would negate the whole purpose of lotteries in making theater more available/affordable. But not sure why sharing a winning code is wrong?

Yes I don't understand that and also disagree with it. No one is doing this for profit and are doing it so these tickets go back to the community that wants to use it, instead of to waste. Users may enter multiple days in one submission and not know beforehand which ones they may win, and may win multiple days and end up not using, or change of plans when the day finally rolls around.
I've passed a code along here that someone used, and several months later was able to use a code someone else couldn't make use of.
It's one if my favorite things about this forum, looking out for others.

What's the point of entering a lottery if you can't attend?
Also, some who did want to go, who did enter, might have won otherwise.

That's so annoying how they're acting about this....I'd rather someone use it and enjoy then it go to waste. There have been times when I enter in advance and win multiple times in a row...I'm not gonna go each time.
So risiculous.

Lucky Seat is the system where you enter up to a week in advance as many of the show times as you want, and you can win it more than once in that span, and you win the day before you go. Anything can happen within that one week span.
They need a redistribution system if they're making this a policy. They don't let you decline.
TodayTix system is more advanced in that it has an active redistribution system in place for unclaimed/declined lottery tix.

You decline when you don't buy the tickets.
They don't seem to be complaining about people not using winning codes, only sharing them.
They can sort out how to tweak their system to be more effective over time.
Because giving the code away keeps the tickets out of people's hands that entered the lottery. (yes, I know some people that might use them might also have entered, but it should go through the website) LOTS of places don't allow you to share codes.

I am sorry as I feel I've brought this to people's attention. I understand it's Luckyseats policy, albeit not being posted anywhere in the winner email (aside from a "share on social media" type of deal. No link to T/Cs or anything. I guess that's what makes this whole thing a little iffy as it just feels random.
Ah well. The show is closing soon anyway.
As to Dramamama - the plans have changed and I got tickets to something else in that time slot already. I entered the lottery last Sunday. Things to change if you are from out of town and look for shows to watch. I wanted to pay it forward, so to speak. I also missed a decline button so that these could be immediately released and go to someone else.
Anyway. Lesson learned.

There is a link on the page you enter to: https://s3.amazonaws.com/terms.luckyseat.com/GHD_Broadway.pdf
Where it states: "Prize is not assignable or transferable."

Too bad...wish I had a code to use for tomorrow night for one ticket.

There was another thread from today where someone posted a code for the matinee tomorrow and I see that thread was deleted also as i don't see it anymore. What was the point in deleting the other thread?

Oh please, that's nonsense. I've never entered a lottery knowing I wouldn't be able to make it, but life happens. For example last week after losing a few days in a row I bought a seat for Tuesday night, and then won the lottery Wednesday (that I had entered the week before). What exactly should I have done differently? Called them up and asked them to remove my entry? This "don't enter if you can't go" response really annoys me because I see it trotted out every. Single. Time. someone shares a code and it's bollocks.
As for returning the lotto ticket to the fan pool - that's EXACTLY what you're doing by sharing the code! Giving a fan who may have otherwise won the chance to get the winning draw that you received. If you "decline" as you say by just not using the code, NOW it's unfair that no one got to use the winning lotto, because while you can't go anyway, it's other fans who are all still stuck paying regular prices or not getting seats (with sold out shows).

According to Lucky Seat, aka the people whose job it is to run the lottery, not shared or posted the code.
If someone wants to go see the show, they should enter themselves. It's not very difficult to win the GHD lottery.

Ummmm....I didn't say a thing about entering and not being able to use the tix. I know things change...which is why "day of" makes the most sense. And personally, I could care less about codes or rush.
