It uses Kurt Weill music, so unless they are using new lyrics, you could just listen to CDs with his music.

Not much has been announced. It's the first musical in the Biltmore Theatre in about 20 or more years. Directed by Hal Prince with a book by Alfred Uhry, LoveMusik is the story of Kurt Weill (Mike Cerveris) and Lotte Lenya (Donna Murphy).
It's a jukebox musical in the sense that the music is recycled, but, like Jersey Boys, it's placed in context of their life. Bertolt Brecht, as well as the other figures in Weill's life, are in it as well.
Expect to hear a delightful rendition of Mack the Knife from Murphy.
uhhhhg i didnt realize it was a jukebox musical. i'm so sick of those.
they were okay for a while, but i think there starting to become way too many.
WHAT IF THEY TAKE OVER BROADWAY????????????
Yes but look at the four names Yankee dropped! This will be an ARTY Jukebox Musical!

I think we should call it a Weill Revue.
Now that is much more exciting!

Getting ready to go to Italy, but I had to drop in just to say ...
I think this sounds really exciting.
Michael Cerveris, Donna Murphy, Kurt Weill, AND Hal Prince? Sounds like a good combo to me.
I'm just excited Hal Prince is directing again!!
I cannot wait to see Donna & Michael
in the spring. This is going to be
great. Two very talented stage actors,
I'm getting goose bumps just thinking
about it
I am very excited about this show as well, and hoping it runs long enough for me to able to see it during the summer. I wonder what songs will be included in the show and whether the songs will be book numbers, the characters consciously singing Weill's songs, or a combination of both; I guess it'll be the a mixture. I hope they give Murphy the chance to sing "Pirate Jenny"--from what I hear she gave a spectacular rendition at the "The Public Sings" concert. I'm certainly looking forward to a cast recording of the show.

tobias - it's set to be a limited engagement, as it is a Manhattan Theater Club production at the Biltmore.

Well, Cerveris certainly has the hairline for the role.
Meanwhile, Audra McDonald and Patti LuPone will be doing MAHAGONNY next year at Los Angeles Opera...
A musical in the Biltmore! Directed by Hal Prince... *dies of happiness*
Loved Uhry's book for PARADE,
I doubt it will be anything like Jesey Boys
I am looking forward to this and Cerveris getting the TONY he deserved last year.
A limited engagement? Oh F*ck....
When's opening night? May 3, yes? This better last until August at least.
Can someone summerize the Nellie McKay + MC thread for me? Was there anything good in it? Saw it up on search, but by the time I clicked on it the whole thing was gone. F-ing mods. :)
Dang it all! Donna and Michael onstage in a musical directed by Hal Prince with music by Kurt Weill and I can't get there. OK, who wants to write a thesis for me?
Oh, and Revolutionary, I think that thread is on the next page.
In case anyone wants to know, I just called the ticket office and they advised that tickets probably won't go on sale until the end of February. They are currently taking orders for groups of 20 or more on Telecharge right now. So mark your calendars for the end of February...unless you are buying 20 tickets :)

Jukebox musical?!!!! Really? I don't think I've EVER heard any thing by Weill being pumped out of a jukebox in a diner (except for maybe Mack the Knife). This isn't a jukebox musical. Weill is originally a theatrical composer unlike ABBA, John Lennon, The Beach Boys, or The Four Seasons.
