LoveMusik to Be Released on CD
LoveMusik, the Broadway musical about the lives of composer Kurt Weill and his wife, actress Lotte Lenya, was recorded by Ghostlight Records on Sunday, July 15.
The show, which was directed by Harold Prince, featured the music of Weill and a book by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Alfred Uhry. It ran for 60 regular performances and 24 previews at Manhattan Theatre Club's Biltmore Theater. The show was nominated for four Tony Awards.
The show starred Michael Cerveris as Weill and Donna Murphyas Lenya; she won both Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance. The supporting cast featured David Pittu as Bertolt Brecht, John Scherer as George Davis, and an ensemble featuring Judith Blazer, Ann Morrison, Herndon Lackey, Erik Liberman, Graham Rowat, and Rachel Ulanet.
