Dear All,
We are contacting you today in the hopes that you, or someone you know within your community, may be interested in becoming a host family for an exchange student this upcoming academic year. We have several students arriving in the U.S. within the next couple of weeks, three of which need homes by July 15th. We are reaching out to you, on their behalf, to ask for your support. Please consider opening your home to one of our students this year. If you are unable to host, please help spread the word within your own neighborhood, place of worship, and amongst your colleagues.
Beli is one of our three students who must find a home by Wednesday, July 15th. Beside pictures is a short description of Beli?s individual interests and personality. She is a theatre enthusiast and an active member of her theatre community back in Germany. It is our hope that either you, or a member of your theatre community, may be interested in making Beli apart of your family.
Beli is a 15 year old young woman from Germany. She is a thoughtful, imaginative and artistic girl who enjoys reading (especially fantasy and mystery novels), listening to a remarkable variety of music, and spending time with friends. She's an active member of the local theater club and hopes to get involved with her school or community theater while in the U.S. She is equally passionate about writing and sees her future in the writing/journalism field. Beli enjoys jogging and swimming, and is a regular participant in both. Rugby is her favorite sport - but unfortunately there are no rugby teams in Germany - so she and her friends pretend to be "ruggers" on the soccer field. Beli is both excited and grateful as she anticipates her exchange - excited to fulfill a dream and grateful to you, the host family that welcomes her into their home.
Hosting a YFU international exchange student is an enriching experience for you and the entire family. By opening your home and heart to a student from overseas, you and your family will gain a new global perspective, many memories, and - quite possibly - a new family member for life!
If you are interested in viewing other student profiles, or have any questions what so ever, please feel free to contact me.
Our most sincere thanks for all of your support,
Dylan Collins

...probably would have been a better idea to have started looking before now if you needed a place for 3 students for a year in 2 days from now... just saying.
Maybe they have, but just have not been successful. Hope you find a home for these people.

Something doesn't sound right about this - people have to be checked out, and that can't be done in a couple days. You don't just dump a 15 year old on anyone willing to take them.
If this is on the up&up, best of luck.

Why are they providing pictures of the exchange students ? This is really asking for trouble. I hope the parents of this 15-yr-old know that the prospective family will not be vetted.

You see pictures? I only see a nondescript profile with a first name, an contact name, number and email.
Still think it's odd, though, and with all due respect, this board is one of the last places I'd go to find someone to put up a kid.

It says:
"Beside pictures is a short description of Beli?s individual interests and personality."
Does that mean they'll provide her picture upon request ?
Did anyone happen to check out the website?
"Rugby is her favorite sport - but unfortunately there are no rugby teams in Germany"
And there are in the US?
This does indeed sound odd.

I assumed it was an email addy, millie. I did check. They've been around for awhile but went bankrupt a decade or so ago. Now under new management? It doesn't speak well of them that they're trying to place a 15 year old in two days...through this board...
