Hi, for an audition i need a belting song. The only problem is i can't reach that many high notes. I also can't hit low ones since i am a mezzo soprano. So i am kinda stuck in the middle. Something with the range from "On my own" but less known would be perfect. I hope you guys have some ideas?
This is overdone as hell, but She Used To Be Mine is not in a super high range, but it demands a lot of power while staying in the same place repeatedly. Some things that Mama Rose sings in Gypsy, although I'm assuming not age-appropriate, could work too. I think a lot of the songs from Funny Girl were originally in lower keys(Don't Rain On My Parade may originally just go up to a B-Flat or B Natural), so look into those. As Long As She Needs Me from Oliver is a great low belting song.
Also, Bells Are Ringing has several strong female pieces (It's A Perfect Relationship and I'm Going Back) as does The Pajama Game(I'm Not At All In Love, There Once Was A Woman).
Basically, look into older shows (1920-196- the belt songs from those eras are pretty much always in lower keys since high belting pretty much was not a thing in musical theatre back then.

Thanks i have tried "she used to be mine" but the lower parts are a bit too low for me, the higher parts are perfect though maybe you know any other songs?
Check my updated message above :)
Have you tried any of the older stuff though? Those should no doubt work- can you give me a bit more info about your vocal range? What are the notes in She Used To Be Mine that are too low for you?

Notes below the central C an the piano are hard for me to reach. I can go a bit lower to a B or A but thats about it, i hope this helps. And i saw the update. Thanks for helping. Finding good songs is always such a struggle.

Hmm, it sounds like you should be working with a voice teacher on finding the right repertoire for you as well as carefully and patiently stretching your range on both ends because notes below an A3 are definitely notes that a female singer (even a coloratura soprano) should be able to hit. Range and classification are always somewhat rigid and somewhat flexible at the same time, so don't put yourself in the box of a mezzo soprano yet, especially not for professional auditions(I personally dislike labeling someone as a specific voice type for auditions and in life really). In professional auditions, they will expect you to go lower then what you are currently capable of doing.
Do you mind if I ask you your age? That would help.

I am 16?? so my voice probably gets lower over time. I have been stretching to higher notes with a vocal teacher. Its way higher than a year ago. It's a audition for an university. I already got through the first round. I now have two days of classes i need to go to and they asked us to do a belt song for one of the classes.

Maybe Love Will Come and Find Me Again from Bandstand is a possibility?
