re: Is Mrs. Lovett the truly evil one? Mar 1 2026, 10:47:16 PM
Mrs. Lovett is in some ways the most evil one as her not disclosing that Lucy is actually alive may have resulted in him taking the path that he did but.. what would he have done if he had known the truth? Lucy most likely would have been too damaged by then to be able to return fully to her old self. And that might have spurred Todd into action in order to avenge her anyway. But Todd’s actions aren’t justified either because he kills innocent people. The Beadle and the Judge

She is not insanely overdue for any awards regarding this show in any capacity.
Bottom line: QOV sucked, she was not good in it, she will move on, although I doubt that we will see her on Broadway for a long time to come.
Correct. It's completely exhausting to be on Broad

No, I hate MAGA. Violence is never the solution. Period. Yes, he was a terrible person and I'm not in mourning for him but it doesn't justify him being killed.

What exactly does she need to apologize for? As awful as Kirk was, him being assassinated was a terrible moment. Chenoweth grew up in a divided political household in the Bible Belt so her reacting how she did is not a surprise to me particularly as she herself was a swing voter until right after Obama was elected. All of this is in her book.

I'm sad to hear all the negative reviews- hopefully the show will get better and Chenoweth can get a second Tony.

"Dancing Through Life" and "Defying Gravity" particularlystood out as highlights this time when I thought they were the parts of the film that stalled the most on first viewing. Knowing I was going to be sitting through a 21-minute sequence in DTL made it better this time around. And yes,

Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season! Sep 21 2024, 01:54:26 PM
Kad said: "Gypsy has never been a smash hit show. Of the 5 productions thus far, none of them have cracked 2 years. LuPone and Lansbury didn’t even last a year, Peters made it just over a year, Daly was a year and a half, and the original production was a couple months shy of 2."
The Great Recession happened before Patti could make it to a year, we have to remember that.

It seems like Riedel and Laurents ruined the 2003 revival of Gypsy, the former was particularly cruel.

I watched the Imelda Staunton version- I feel like she got misdirected because she overdoes it a lot. She's a great actress though.

Sutton still comes across as too young persona-wise but you know, the real Rose was younger than she is now when she got her kids into all this so I feel like the role could be played by younger actresses generally. We see young stage moms on shows like Toddler and Tiaras and in real life. The role has been played by older actors/character types for the most part which I think is a great thing but there should be more variety in casting.

I'm not as frequent of a user on here so just to double-check, this is referencing Shuffle Along right?

She's one of the best Broadway stars of all time. It's a shame she had to go up against Kelli in The King& I nine years ago. I remember not being that bowled over when I sawOn the Twentiet

Boy, do I feel stupid, lol. But I hope that means Chenoweth can clear the field for 2026.
