I noticed several ppl said this was one of their faves. Which cd did you prefer? The off broadway cast cd or the studio cast cd?
TIA

I have the original off-broadway cast, and it's brilliant!
I don't have the lateast cd, but most people agree it is a tad inferior to the first cd.

I have the new recording and have not heard the original but I think it's a hoot. It's well worth it. I bought it because it's Ahrens/Flaherty who I always adore and liked it more than I thought I would.
BTW, does anyone have opinions on Dessa Rose? I special ordered it from Borders a couple months ago and it still hasn't come in and I'm wondering if I should cancel the order.

I prefer the first version (Off-Broadway cast).
The tempos (tempi?) on the studio recording all seem rushed.
Actually, my favorite recording is the bootleg performance cassette of the original production that Stephen Flaherty sent me when I was musical director for the show's Chicago Premiere back in 1989.
