Here's another "Will & Grace" one--Karen says she sees Will and his date at "Fiddler on the Roof".
And as far as "Seinfeld" goes--in one episode, George buys Jerry tickets to see "Guys and Dolls" for his birthday.

In 1956, there was a wonderful Sergeant Bilko (Phil Silvers) story about the company seeing My Fair Lady. Bilko and his men go to the Box OFfice on the same day, and ofcourse the box office man snottily tells Bilko that they are sold out for years. Bilko protests, intimidates, and finally, Herman Levin the shows producer makes an appearance to calm things down, then offers Bilko and his buddies a few of his own seats for that performance. But Bilko never gets to see the show, because he can't get a date.

Also on Will and Grace: When Karen asks Minnie Driver (forgot the character's name) where she's been hiding because her private eye couldn't find her, Minnie Driver reveals that she has been working in the ensemble of Taboo. Karen then says while on TKTS, she was on the fence about seeing Taboo and saw Little Shop of Horrors instead.

Wasn't there also a DICK VAN DYKE SHOW episode where they go to the theatre...?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

not to open the Family Guy/Broadway book, but I love it in an episode where stewie does that song-and-dance number with this girl, and then after the girl drops out, the audience doesn't like the show with just Stewie...they all start booing and someone yells "this is worse than Seussical!"

On another episode of Will AND GRACE, Grace and Will's mother, played by the sublime Blythe Danner, go to see Billy Crystal in 700 SUNDAYS. Will can't go,so Grace accompanies Mom. Blythe Danner is hilarious when she keeps quoting some of the Yiddish expressions used in the play.
