I go to school close to the store and I decided to go with my two best friends, one of whom wanted to go one of whom we dragged along. It was held in the basement and the 50 seats they had filled up before I arrived. 20 or so people stood in the aisles with us. Matt sang a bunch of songs, all of which were good. The song Europe was a little bit odd, but still good. Shy was excellent, and the accompanying story was hysterical. I don't remember the names of the other songs, but they were all awesome! There were two raffles, one in between sets and one after the show. Matt was very friendly and made the crowd fall in love with him. He goofed off and was very endearing! After the show he had a question and answer. When the organizer of the gig told him he could stop now he said he wanted to keep answering questions. You could tell he was having a great time. Afterwards he sat at a table and took pictures with everyone and signed autograhs. He even answered the questions of people who didn't get to ask then earlier and had full conversations with my friend about getting into musical theater. I honestly didn't expect it to be that good. I only went because I knew I'd be upset if I did. My friends both walked out loving it as much as I did. We're all super glad we went.
The only down side was the obnoxious RENT fans. I'm a huge fan of the show; I've seen it 4 times. I know all of the lyrics and such and I've seen Matt as Mark twice. That doesn't mean you have to be obnoxious and loud and annoying. People came to see Matt, not to hear the annoying blabber from all of the crazed fans.
All in all, it was a fantastic night!
