hey chums! i've been looking for a duet for a girl and i to do in a talent competition or while now, and i've searched both boards, written down some of the past suggestions, listeneded to clips, and still not found anything. we're looking for a real "powerhouse", big, flashy number... something like "i move on" from chicago. it doesn't matter whether or not the song was originally written for a male and female or even as a duet, but any suggestions you think might work are greatly appreciated! thanks guys
No specific titles come to mind but you can check out Hal-Leonard's "The Singers Musical Theatre Anthology" for Duets. Great book.

"Take Me As I Am" or "It's a Dangerous Game" from Jekyll and Hyde are great M and F songs to do. I recently sang "Take Me As I AM" with my boyfriend at our schools "American Idol". We won first place and we get to have a concert of our duets. Anything else we could possibly do? We have an allowance for 5 songs.
Wheels of a Dream (Ragtime)
You & I (Chess)
Two People in Love (Baby)
What Could be better? - Baby
Elaborate Lives - Aida
Written in the Stars - Aida
In Whatever Time we Have - Children of Eden
Unworthy of Your Love - Assassins
Almost Paradise - Footloose
Dear God - John and Jen
Yesterday I Loved you - Once Upon a Mattress
Hope these help! And i agree with a lot of the other duets mentioned!
