MARIA FRIEDMAN IN GYPSY?

I haven't heard anything of Gypsy in London, but I do know this: Ms. Friedman gets more work than ANY actress in London. Great for her, but it's becoming almost predictable.
p.s. She's plenty young enough.

Sounds like she could be doing it regionally somewhere in the UK.

A revival of Gypsy just closed on Broadway last year, so I doubt it will be on Broadway.

Yes, Mister Matt. I concur. Let's give GYPSY a rest for at least a decade or two re: Broadway revivals. Or at least until Arthur Laurents passes.

Well, I am pretty sure it would be in the UK - she doesn't do things in NY does she?

Wait, it just dawned on me: If she is in fact doing "Gypsy", wouldn't she be unable to transfer with "The Woman in White" to Broadway?

dont really know but i was led to think that its a limited special run of the show regionally with some other nyc talent and that it would close after a month or two and she would still make the scheduled woman in white opening

Yeah, I thought she was coming over with Woman in White. Oh well, time will tell.

Maria Friedman is the super talented British actress who played Fosca in the London premiere of Sondheim's "Passion" and is currently starring as Marian Halcambe in ALW's "The Woman in White". She is not very well known in the US; she's played several cabaret gigs at Cafe Carlyle. She is married to the composer Jeremy Sams.

She's only the goddess of the West End. I can't believe she'd go to the states for regional though. Must be a big deal. Anyone know where exactly?

She is to the West End what Kristin Chenoweth is to Broadway (yes, she is several years older than Kristin, but this is the best analogy I can think of).

I believe it's a 6 week or so engagement in Texas mid-late summer. Not sure where exactly, but an announcement should be coming soon on it.

That's good. She'll be back in time to make her Broadway debut in "The Woman in White".

"The Woman in White" will mark her Broadway debut, and I doubt she's done regional prior to this.
As I stated in my earlier post, she's had cabaret engagement's at Cafe Carlyle.
