MARY POPPINS 45th Anniversary Edition DVD will feature four new featurettes of Broadway musical

To be released January 27, 2009: MARY POPPINS 45th Anniversary Edition DVD. It will include all of the original bonus features included in the 40th anniversary version, and new to this release will be four featurettes on the Broadway musical.

Perhaps this is what they were filming last month?

It is cool that they are doing this. I remember reading something about how Ariel's beginning had a very lengthy backstage tour of The Little Mermaid given by Boggess.

Another release???? I just got the 2 disc special edition on when it was released 2 years ago!

bschneid76, I hear where your coming from. But, I am willing to bet that there are people who got the 2 disc DVD a couple of years ago who are still going to get this one. Even though the basic movie is still the same.

By coincidence I lost my previous purchase of the MARY POPPINS DVD as I let someone borrow it and they never returned it. Which I could remember who took it...

But it's gone, I need a new one, so now I know to wait til January.

I really enjoyed the 5-part documentary of the making of THE LION KING on it's platinum edition DVD.

While I do understand that there are people who love to collect DVDs, and must get every release of every movie out there. I think, it would be a smart move, if they just made the special features as its own thing that you can buy in the store. That way, the rest of us who already have just the movie, can find a way to get and enjoy the rest of what it is they are missing out on.

Yes, this may be yet ANOTHER anniversary DVD of MARY POPPINS (especially since the 40th Anniversary Edition was released 5 years ago!), but it is the FIRST TIME it is being available on Blu-ray disc.

Since Disney is pushing the Blu-ray market extensively, this release is basically being done for this exact purpose -- to have their gem MARY POPPINS on Blu-ray disc.

Yeah Disney is also rereleasing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Beauty and the Beast in the Platinum Editions. For which they were already released in, but I also assumed it was the purpose for having them on Blue-ray.

Actually, I'm more excited about Snow White and Beauty and the Beast being re-released, since I missed the platinum editions the first time around. I've been needing to add them to my collection for some time.
