Years ago there was a double Concept recording of quite a good musical, called MASADA- telling the historic story of the hebrew zealeots' fortress on Mt. Masada in Roman conquest.(rather lesmis in feel an style) it was pretty good, (and one of my first CDs!)
Every now and then you hear talks about it, and the chance it might pop-up "next season" on Broadway or something..
PLEEEZE, does anyone have information?
The show has been completely re-written. It now takes place in World War II Warsaw and contains all new lyrics by David Goldsmith. Shuki Levy has re-written most of his score as well. As far as I know, nothing is happening with this. It was suppose to play the Oriental Theatre in Chicago about two years ago (maybe three) then come to Broadway. The production was postponed and that was the last I heard.
It was supposed to play in Chicago from September 19 through October 24 2004, but was canceled.
I was looking forward to it too.
Apparently the book has been reworked extensively, and it's like a completely new show now. I listened to the sample tracks of the new cast album at www.masadamusical.com and all I can say is, WOW.
I heard they're still working on getting to Broadway... I hope so, I want to see this show onstage!!
