Good luck on that one, JohnP!

And Amneris...you have now given me my new favorite phrase:

"Here's to new ideas!"

Sort of that same thing as 'bless his heart'.
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."

i actually have a little more faith in Bernie Taupin than i do in Elton John. Their previous collaboration provided some wonderful pop (and inherently dramatic or narrative) songs. And yes, that DOTV supporting cast was wonderful. And as far as Anne Rice and music go, wasn't one of her books something about a violin?

I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

The musical will be based on Anne Rice's vampire trilogy ~ Interview With the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned.

From what I’ve heard, they are expecting a late 2004, early 2005 opening in NYC. Unless things have changed in the last few days, Max von Essen will not be participating in the workshop that is planned for next month.

There may be additional information on Elton John’s website but I would think that any information on a national tour would be quite a bit into the future.

>Correct me if I'm wrong!

Your correct ~ as I posted above

...Unless things have changed in the last few days, Max von Essen will not be participating in the workshop that is planned for next month...

I went back and listened to the tape from Chatterbox and it sounds as if, half way thru the DOTV casting process for Alfred ~ they told Max that they were going to be looking at all new people TOO!! And when all was said and done ~ who's name ended up in the Playbill??

But if things don't work out ~ Well, it's their loss, isn't it!

Two Elton John theme-park style musicals in New York is three too many, and now another? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Just take these shows to Vegas where they belong.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Elton John or not, I think The Vampire Lestat is a wonderfully written story that would translate well to the theatre.

The entire story is essentially about love and passion, and dealing with a life that will never end unless one commits suicide. I'm almost done with the second book in the Vampire Chronicles (which is The Vampire Lestat) and there have been so many moments where I stopped and thought to myself: "Wow, I could definitely picture a musical number right here."

I hope it comes to Broadway in one way or another.

I hope everything works out for Max. He is the best and deserves only the best!
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer
