I absolutely love the book WINGER by Andrew Smith, and have just begun writing a little bit of music for a concept musical. I have all the song titles ready, so if someone asks I can list them.
Those of you who know the book, can you tell me if these vocal ranges are good for the characters/fit the characters attributes?
Ryan Dean: Baritenor B2 - A4 (Vocals get lower as he matures throughout the story)
Joey Cosentino: Baritone G2 - F4
Chas Becker: Bass C2 - D4
Annie Altman: Soprano C4 - Gb5
Seanie Flaherty: Tenor C3 - B4
JP Thearau: Baritone A2 - G4
Isabel Reyes: Mezzo Soprano F3 - D#5
Megan Renshaw: Alto D3 - E5
If you want some more details, feel free to ask! But do you think the vocal ranges fit the characters?

This seems like the least valuable entry point into creating a musical. You have no book. No songs. No style of music picked. No rights. But you know the vocal range of each character?! What is step two, what sort of shoes each wears?
I think the best creative act one can choose is silence. Put your head down, stop seeking external feedback, and work. External approval is better after the work is done, or at least in a shape where you NEED that feedback to continue.
