MTI Transposition Form

Guys,

I am filling out a transposition form for MTI and it is asking for "Key (Beginning of Song)."

Is this the original key, or the key of the new transposition? I would ask MTI, but they closed at 1pm today and will not be back until Tuesday, I really need this turned in today.

It's hard to answer this without seeing the rest of the form or having some context. Also, if they're closed until Tuesday then why do you need to turn it in today? They're not going to see it until... Tuesday, lol.

If I had to guess, I suppose I would say they mean "What key do you want it in", but again, without seeing the other questions it's a very difficult question to answer.

I'm pretty sure they mean the key you want it in, at the beginning of the song. There are plenty of songs with key changes in them, so they're asking what key you want the song to start in (any key changes within the song would be adjusted accordingly).

I believe it’s the key you’d like it transposed to. You can always clarify (down a minor second, etc.).

I agree, though, they’re not going to see your request until Tuesday since the office is closed, so you’ll be fine.

I know it is not unheard of for someone to ask something they already know, but the fact that they obviously already know the original key kinda weighs in favor of that not being what they want.
