MY FAIR LADY or HELLO DOLLY?

Dear Broadway Experts

I will be travelling to NYC at the end of June and look very much forward to see a decent musical on broadway. As the quality of music is very important to me, I am currently tending towards My Fair Lady, however Hello Dolly also got very good reviews here. I was in love with An American In Paris, did like Hairspray and 42nd Street in London, but South Pacific was somehow not speaking to me. Which one would you recommend?

Regarding tickets: the prices for the central orchestra section are pretty high (USD 299,--), so I tend to the right side front orchestra (e.g. D103) or back in the more central section (e.g. M209). Which one would you get? I am also wondering if the seats D101 and D102 are not sold currently – are these house seats?

Thank you very much for your input!

They're both so great that you can't go wrong!

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Two of the best productions currently on Broadway. You really can't go wrong either way—they're both high-quality.

I think it depends on whether you want a light, fluffy, funny night out (then do Dolly!), or if you want something with just as much humor but a little more magnitude and emotional depth (then do My Fair Lady).

It also depends where you are coming from and what your accessibility to road companies is.  If national tours come your way then I would skip Dolly and go see Lady with its original revival cast.  Dolly will be touring and the broadway company is already full of replacements.

Based on the shows you've said you liked and South Pacific not being your cup of tea, I'd definitely suggest Hello, Dolly over My Fair Lady.
