Thank you for the condescending comment, PlayItAgain. I'm not an idiot, and obviously I don't have control over casting, much as I wish I did. I just love The King and I and a revival at Lincoln Center excites me and I merely would like to see an actress who doesn't put me to sleep play Anna.

TheatreKid3, the rule you're referring to (which, by the way, is 3 years, not 5 years) would not apply in this case. The Tony rule is very poorly written, but makes an exception for a "classic," which Macbeth certainly is.

You bring up a good point, though, which is that the current wording of the rule makes it seem as though unrelated productions of a non-classic within the previous 3 years would make the show ineligible, which is not the intent.

"What was the name of that cheese that I like?" "you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start" "well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

Has anyone ever seen the MGM movie of Act One with Jason Robards and George Hamilton? It was recently on Turner Classic Movies and I've never seen it so I was pleasantly surprised to see it. Pretty good...

Thank you, mikem! It does seem to be a very poorly written rule.
